We all know Metta could change his mind in a heartbeat but for right now he seems intent on retirement and has announced such

One part of the interview that was seen tonight on Access Sportsnet was Metta talking about how the 16th Championship wasn't where he wanted it to end for helping the Lakers, and said that the 17th and 18th championships were what he was striving for cause those were the championships that would have put the Lakers past the Celtics and he wanted to be a part of that and be a Laker that took down the Celtics record.   That was his ultimate goal and he's sad he won't be a part of the team that does it but he has faith in Mitch to give that to the fans very soon.  I love how he so desperately wanted us to get the 17th and 18th championships just to beat the Celtics record.

First the first time ever, they spelled "amnesty" wrong on my contract , so I think I'm still in LA. I'm checking with my agent. ;)  What a jokerster I am;)

  1. I'm gonna miss the LA Times and Melissa and Mark Medina!! I'm gonna miss Staples Center chanting "World Peace ,World Peace". I'm gonna miss jack Nicholson and my floor seat buddies!!!!!!!  I'm gonna miss all my usher friends and staples security. I'm gonna miss Berries late night and Infusion lounge at City Walk. I'm gonna miss dockwieler beach and Venice beach chin up bars. I'm gonna miss walking around Beverly Hills and the Drew league.

And we're gonna miss you :byecry:

Metta was a Laker at heart till the end of his career.   Now I know all this could eventually mean nothing and he could sign with the Knicks or something tomorrow if they change his mind, but as Metta lives minute by minute and this minute he considers himself retired, this minute is the one I'll use to say this, for what it's worth, if this is truly the end of his NBA career and he is indeed retiring.  I'm glad to have this man retired, as a Laker :)

As well as the guy that said "If we(The Lakers) don't win a championship, blame it on me" and that went into a shower Kobe Bryant was in years prior and told him he could help them beat the Celtics and then lived up to every word when the lights shined brightest and it came time to back it all up.

For me, he's always going to be Ron Artest, Ron Artest is the guy who changed his ways, put aside his differences with Kobe to team up with him, became Kobe's trusted warrior on the court and walked the walk on a Game 7, in crunchtime, the biggest stage there is for a basketball player. That's Ron Artest, I thank him, he honoured our uniform, he baceme a true Laker.

Thanks Ron Ron!

Despite a short tenure, he will be remembered as a Laker. I get the Brawl which was a big shift in the NBA, but more than anything it will be LAL champion Ron Artest.

He still has a year left on a contract, so unless he wants to walk away from millions, he will play somewhere, if a team picks him up.

He isn't very bright, but he's not stupid.

Regrettably, he will be most known for the "Malice at the Palace"

I think the Malice is behind him, he did win the NBA Citizenship award :)

Metta means something when he says it and it can change on a second by second basis :D  So at that moment he was retired, then he woke up this morning and un-retired

That's why I have to put a disclaimer on threads like this :bounce:
