I don't believe in this team's ability to win a championship for the reasons I've mentioned a thousand times already. However, I don't believe tanking is the right thing to do...not just in basketball but in any sport. Just put Vince McMahon in place of David Stern and you'll get your pathetic tanking wishes.

i stand with windu, pretty much the same reasons (minus the hate towards gasol :P , he sucks right now but its not the main problem)

No you are just to slow or incompetent to debate the statements you made.  You still haven't answered how the Lakers were IN YOUR WORDS "consistently" underrated.  By whom? What time period? For as far as most guys can remember the Lakers have been serious contenders in the NBA outside of the a few years post Magic/pre Shaq and post Shaq/pre Gasol.

Really? Giving others skewed sample in order to win an argument is considered "competent"? I made the statement I made because that's how I felt the pundits perceived the Lakers often. It's like how everyone thinks that the opposite team gets more ref love than the other. How do you want to judge that? You're arguing about all the wrong things here while giving me all the wrong evidence to support your claim.

You actively trying to push your agenda that Lakers are an overrated bunch gets really out of hand and unfocused.

How about both of you stop arguing? Neither one of you is accomplishing anything by continuing this. Jody did present facts that say that the Lakers haven't been underrated the past 5 years. But who's to say they weren't underrated before then?

To be fair, I am sure many on ESPN probably were scratching their heads at 12, far too low. anything past 9 in my opinion is just over exaggeration at the loss of Howard.

And Kobe's uncertain health. I believe in Kobe when he says he can return to form, but it's not the job of analysts to take a player's word to heart.

Injuries throughout the season are the ONLY reason and everyone knows it. Kobe also made this point with the intention of coming back on opening night and that didn't happen.

I don't think it really matters.  They'd be still fighting for a playoff spot.  This is one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA even with Kobe.  They'd win some games and lose some games here and there.  No team should be fully dependent on the production of a 35 year old regardless of his resume.

^Jody, don't you get it by now?  There will always be an excuse.  Most of the injuries were predictable and some were flat out expected.

The injuries have been the only consistent things under MDA, I would expect them as well.

I don't blame these injuries on MDA.
Kobe was expected. Nash is worse than last season, unexpected in my book. Blake's elbow. Farmar's hamstring. Too much.
This Gasol thing couldn't have come at a worse time.

Rock Bottom.

Or close. Certainly we can see it from here

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick!, 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!)

Kobe got hurt because (IMO) MDA ran him into the ground last season.

Nash is old.

Pau gets the sniffles and is old.

Hill is injury prone under any coach.

Blake is getting older.

Kaman is old.

The only somewhat unpredictable injuries are to X and Farmar.  Are those MDA's fault too?  I dont know.

But if those two guys are so integral to our success that we can't do without them, that alone speaks volumes about our team's talent level.

Without many draft picks, limited tradeable talent, a bad coach, a bloated payroll and an ancient injured superstar.

But our owner and FO are geniuses in the eyes of many on this board ....
