12 is the floor for the Lakers. I think they can finish anywhere from 8-12.

OKC, San Antonio, Clippers, Houston, Memphis, and Golden State, and Denver(even though they got worse) are definitely better.

My ultimate guess is that the Lakers finish 9th with them finishing closer to 10th than 8th.

And if Kobe comes back in the pre-season and looks healthy and get through the season healthy I wonder what the predictions will turn into.

Unfortunately you are probably right. 9th is the worst place to finish.

yea thats true, that will alter everyones prediction. But atm all we can do is predict from the information we have now. If the info changes, so does the prediction.

I change my mind on Denver being a lock. I read that Gallinari won't be back for awhile. He's supposed to come back in February, but he could be back sooner. Dealing with a new coach plus losing Iggy will also hurt them.

I still think they'll end up being better than the Lakers though.

I'd rather finish 12th than 9th lol but my prediction hinges on what Kobe we will get and when we will get him.  If Kobe misses most of or all Nov as project we aren't making the playoffs IMO.  Thats 17 games with like half of them playoff lock teams.  First 3 are LAC, GSW and SAS.

It probably won't change much.  We still have MDA as coach.  Kobe is coming back from for most a "career ending" injury.  Kobe is older with the most mileage in NBA history.  And did I mention we still have MDA as coach?

But that being said, its Kobe being Kobe. He loves these stuff. He eats them up.  Doubt the mamba and watch what happens.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

OKC #1? Psh...

Best C in the league? Arguably best SG in the league? I smell Shaq-Kobe 2.0.

Shaq often made his free throws when they counted. Can't say the same as much for Dwight. I really think if opponents are smart, the hack-a-Dwight is really gonna' give Houston problems unless Dwight miraculously suddenly improves dramatically in that area. It'll frustrate Harden too cause it'll kill all rhythm & momentum of the game.

Golden State should be higher than Memphis. I'll still take my chances applying a San Antonio-like strategy and daring them to shoot from the outside rather than letting them beat you with their strength inside.

Amazing that ESPN could possibly get any stupider. We will be 5th or 6th with 4 as our ceiling book it. A season where we are complete underdogs? Doesn't happen often in Laker land. We'll take advantage it.

there are some serious good teams in the west...

Top 6 are all title contenders...

OKC

SAS

Memphis

Warriors

Rockets

Clippers

All 6 of those teams have what it takes to go far in the playoffs...

Then, you get to the next tier of teams,

Lakers

T-wolves

Blazers

nuggets

Mavs

Pelicans

These 6 teams are fighting for 2 playoff spots...

Blazers and pelicans are young teams on the rise...

Nuggets are like the Mavs, a team on the decline, but still dangerous

The T-wolves are kinda like the lakers.. Talent, but injuries messed things up...

Lakers could be better then all those teams...

Nuggets could be lost without Karl...

Pelicans and blazers might be too young...

T-wolves could have Love or Rubio get hurt for the season at any moment..

Mavs did little to get better...

Of all the teams out of the top 6, I say the lakers have the best chance to jump into that first tier of Top teams in the West...

Nuggets will be good still... I think the Blazers will surprise people... The Pelicans are going to be one of the most exciting teams in the NBA... I just don't trust the T-Wolves... but, this would be the year they make the playoffs, and miss out on a good lottery pick...

Jazz Kings Suns have no chance...

Glad the lakers have 2 of them in the same division...

Although, the Jazz will be playing young...

The kings might not be terrible... nah, they will stink...

Good.

I hope every publication and journalist talks trash about the Lakers and where their season will end up.  It's all the more motivation.

For me, barring major injuries or extenuating circumstances, it's

1) Houston Rockets

2) L.A. Clippers

3) San Antonio Spurs

4) Oklahoma City

5) Golden State Warriors

6) Memphis Grizzlies

7) Denver Nuggets or L.A. Lakers

8)  Denver Nuggets or L.A. Lakers

9) Minnesota Wolves

10) Dallas Mavericks

11) Portland Trailblazers

12) Utah Jazz

13) Phoenix Suns

14) New Orleans Pelicans

15) Sacramento Kings

I take that back about the Jazz... I think they could surprise some people this year...

I don't have Memphis nor Houston as title contenders, especially not Memphis.

Really? I don't even have them as title contenders. As long as Dwight can't make free throws especially, I don't see him ever winning a championship.

Best we could do is the 6th.. Behind LAC, HOU , OKC , SAS , GSW.

We're stil 2 months and a half away. You never know what might happen..

Like a lot of fans here, I prefer 12th and not 9th. If we are anywhere near the playoffs in the final months of the season, Kobe will break his back for this team. It's admirable, but not worth an 8th spot in the West.

Although, I could see them as a 7th or possible 6th.

If this team stays healthy they will not drop below 500

20 wins before 10 loses should be the first goal

A healthy lakers team with Nash, and gasol will not be a bad team
And then factor in Kobe
The west is going to be super competitive
While only 5 teams out east are playoff worthy, maybe 11 or 12 will be out west
