Pretty sure he turned down a 10 million dollar player option from the T-Wolves.

Anyway, very nice pickup by the Nets. They could be serious this season. Only two things that could derail them; coaching and health.

I still think hiring a rookie coach fresh off the court in Jason Kidd with this roster was really dumb. They should have brought in someone like Hollins who could do more to maximize their potential.

Completely agree. Still not sure J. Kidd is the best possible coach for this ready to win now & experienced full of vets roster, but time will tell.

How come we didn't sign him?

^ That'll help, although I believe Lionel Hollins may even be a better coach than Frank, but obviously familiarity was key with Frank & Kidd & their history.

How come we didn't sign him?

I'm not even sure if we ever even tried pursuing him, but regardless, we used our mini MLE instead on Kaman and although AK-47 is the overall better player, we had to go find a big more importantly after we lost Dwight and we got a decent to solid one in Chris.

People are really sleeping on this Brooklyn squad.

Or maybe I'm just high on them.

But they are easily the favorites to come out of the East to me.

How does Miami deal with Garnett AND Lopez? I haven't even seen them make any moves to bring in some front court help.

Brooklyn has an overwhelming advantage in the backcourt as well. They have too many pieces.

Pierce
Deron
Johnson

All 3 guys can take over a playoff game, Pierce to a lesser degree. Not to mention the pickup of Kirilenko, who's a borderline all star small forward with exceptional defensive capabilities.

Brooklyn we go hard. I can't wait to watch this team run through Miami.

The bench? Terry, Evans, Blatche, Kirilenko, Taylor, Teletovic??? Really??? This is by far the deepest team in the league.

Those Russians don't play, and they've got the pockets to back it up.

^ They should've done better last season too with the talent they had then, but they seemed to lack the passion. Here's to hoping KG & Pierce with their championship experience can instill it in them as well as obviously their new coach Kidd along with Frank.

This is not true. None of that really is. I just had a foreign exchange student from Russia living with me and she said the US and Russia are pretty similar.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Straight garbage. Get on a plane and head over to North Korea, let me know how corrupt Russia is then.

Back to basketball though lol.

Nets looking scary.

A lot of people saying money under the table. Haha. It is surprising he took like 3 mil a year.

Lol, I guess we weren't the only ones:

On a more serious note, a report from Yahoo! quoted anonymous executives from around the league who accused Prokhorov of improperly circumventing the salary cap – i.e. money under the table – to sign Andrei Kirilenko. The basis was Kirilenko opted out of a contract paying him $10 million in Minnesota and signed for about $3 million with the Nets. Prokhorov hinted the accusations were rooted in Cold War stereotypes. In other words, when two Russians agree to a deal, there has to be something shady. “I think old stereotypes, they are very hard to beat and to break,” Prokhorov said. “And I want to thank our fans and members of the press, because they have been very quick to support us. And I respect all the NBA rules, and we play by the NBA rules. But I want just to stress once again, like with the luxury tax, I will do whatever I can in order to win championship, but under the NBA rules, please make no mistake about this.” New York Daily News

It's obvious he took money under the table, no way he took a 7 mil paycut.

^ 3.2 million not 1 just to be accurate.

Andrei Kirilenko Says He Chose Nets To Win A Title

Amid speculation he joined the Nets because of some backroom deal with the Nets Russian owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, Kirilenko says “he’s in Brooklyn to win a title.”

”No,” Kirilenko said Thursday during a conference call. ”Those type of rumors I can’t control. I guess it comes from the history because of Russia, the KGB. I don’t know what to think. I played 12 years in the NBA. It makes it look funny for those type of accusations.”

”I play in NBA for 12 years and I think there is a time to take a shot to win a title,” Kirilenko said.

Or maybe he realized i'm 32, I've made plenty of paper and can make plenty in Russia and after the Nets/C's trade he decided that 2yrs at 6M was a better option to win ring than 3yrs at 21M in Minny where they will be competing for the 7th or 8th seed
