Just when you thought EA couldn't do anything more stupid...

EA ups prices on its PS4 and Xbox One games

Sony and Microsoft have both promised that their next-gen titles will at least start out priced the same as those on the current systems, but EA will be pushing up to a higher price point.

EA titles on the Xbox One and PS4 will be priced at £5 more in the UK than they tend to RRP for on the Xbox 360 and PS3 right now, as announced by retailer Game in a question and answer post.

I guess it isn't stupid, people will pay the money.

Personally, I may pass on the next gen consoles and just deck out my PC. It was annoying to see games go from $49.99 to $59.99 and now it looks like the prices may even increase further. I don't feel like dropping almost $100 after tax for one video game, but that is me, personally.

Well it looks like the price increase will only be in the UK.

It's still a stupid decision though.

Can we be sure the US will not follow? Considering there is a greater demand for the Euro (if you went to Europe with $1 USD and exchanged it, you would receive less than $1 in value), it makes me wonder if North America will follow Europe's steps.

£54.99 is about $71 USD.

I agree! I just hope other companies don't follow their lead because they notice the consumer does not mind.

Invest on gamefly... since my brother signed up for it about 3 months ago, i've beaten Hitman Absolution, FarCry 3, Batman Arkham Asylum, Dishonored, and The Last of Us

[expletive] is totally worth it

Good idea. I just may be a cheapscape and do the trial just to play Last of Us, then cancel. :bleh:

There's a reason EA has been voted the worst company two years in a row.

They will probably win it for a third straight year.

I won't pay $71 for any EA game.

If you game like I game (I don't really get caught up into doing EVERYTHING in the game, I usually just beat the game and do extra [expletive] that's conveniently in the way of the main storylines), you'll beat the Last of Us in 3-5 days... you should have a list of games going to get the most out of that free trial!

Lol. This just hurts. They removed their online pass program but raised their game price. Also, they did not remove the online pass program because the fans hated it, they removed it because they wanted to dive fully into micro transactions.

My main reason for leaving this company was because it felt like the company's motivation is purely out of money and not their fans' loyalty. I would reserve my judgment once Ubisoft, Bethesda, Konami, Blizzard release their pricings. The thing with EA is they are trying really really hard to monopolize the gaming industry. It sucks that BioWare is a part of this company. The only good thing about our favorite devs being absorbed by EA is the they have the option of collaborating with one another as evident in EA's next big thing which is Dragon Age : Inquisition. Crytek, Dice, BioWare, and Viceral working together only means one thing, potential. But still, I'd rather shoplift a bioware game, then forward the money to them directly than buy the actual game from a store.

The only good game that EA publishes is Battlefield anyway.

Such an awful company.

It's like EA is brain dead or something. They're constantly voted the worst company in the world, release unfinished products (Sim City 2013), and have the worst reputation when it comes to DLC (BF4 DLC announced before game is even released). Yet they insist on treating their brand like is the best in the world. What a joke.

I'm not really surprised, every new console they raise the price by $10.

Ps1: $40

Ps2: $50

Ps3: $60

Ps4: $70

Actually, EA is the only one to announce a price increase for PS4 and Xbox One games.

Following confirmation that Xbox One games will stick to Xbox 360 pricing, Sony has confirmed that first-party titles on the PS4 will also cost the same as the current gen.

This will apply to Killzone: Shadow FallDriveclubKnackand Infamous Second Son, which will be launching during the PS4 launch window, a Sony spokesperson told Shack News.

All first-party titles will continue to be priced at $59.99 (around £39.99 in the UK), though Sony hasn't said whether this will continue to be the case down the line. We'd say it's a pretty strong indicator though.

Only EA related game i'm interested in is Battlefield and I already pre-ordered BF4, so i'm not sure how a price increase would work for it.

If DICE had more time to fully develop the game I think it'd be a better experience at launch, but I feel like EA pushes and rushes the DICE team into putting out the game asap at the expense of quality.

BF3 was super full of glitches and bugs at launch. BF4 has been in development for about 2 years so hopefully it's enough time to make an excellent game and it isn't rushed into release.

I blame EA for this.
