Because he won't help - let it go.

Some of you guys act like he's an all-star caliber player.  There's a reason nobody picks him up and he just floats from minor league situation to D-League team.

yet you wanted the injry prone greg oden who hasn't played in the league in 3 years? there's a reason no one picked him up either.

At this point, there's nobody serviceable that can play the SF spot for the minimum. We aren't going to get a Dorell Wright type player, so we can't be THAT picky. CDR is the best bet for the Lakers right now. Kobe would be up for it, and if CDR can provide 8 points a night and good defense, he's solid. Of course, the front office has a complete aversion to common sense right now, so they'll probably get Walton or something as the starting 3.

correct me if im wrong(no way im backtracking that d12 thread to find out lol) , werent you the one that said theres no reason to watch now? in that case , how could it hurt to throw him a camp invite?

they dont really have anything to lose and cdr is a player that could pay off if they dont find better. to me, i think he is worth the chance to potentially piss off cuban if he does play well. that in itself is priceless lol.

i just find more utility now in trying to mine for prospects rather than playing vets min older players. id say give him a chance in camp if there is room by then.

on another note djo had 22 and 5 boards for the celtics spl. man this season , id like to play him just for the excitement, love how that kid plays even with his flaws.

Abdul-Jabbar told the San Francisco Chronicle last month he met Howard only once and that Howard expressed an interest in learning from the former Lakers captain but he never again reached out to Abdul-Jabbar.

‘He’s charming, he’s charismatic, very nice young man,’ Abdul-Jabbar said. ‘Maturity-wise, he doesn’t get it.’

Greg Oden would play backup center, not a starting role at the most athletic and tough to defend position in the game right now.

Huge difference.

Oh yeah, next season is gonna be tough, if not impossible to watch.  But like everyone else, I calm down eventually.  I'm honest enough with myself to know that I will watch, just not with the same expectations, which is a huge bummer after watching every year looking for a ring.  A rough, if not impossible switch after 30+ years of watching championship or bust basketball (sans a couple years here and there, which were equally difficult to see - and in person no less).

I'm fine with a camp invite, but when he gets cut (again) watching everyone flip their lid as if the Lakers let LeBron 2.0 go, is nothing but aggravating.  I don't watch players for the excitement.  I want players on the Lakers that can produce and contribute to a winning situation.  Flash means nothing to me.  Give me a team that wins and competes every night and never dunks rather than the opposite.

All I ask is that people know the guy (CDR) for who he is, a scrub, a second tier scrub that can't hold on to a job of this level for a reason.

With D'Antoni as the coach and Kobe going through this injury I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe played more small forward this year.

The Lakers still need two more guy to fill that spot, and the SG if they're looking to move Kobe to SF (which would be a mistake in my opinion).

If Mitch can somehow pull Nick Young I would be amazed.

I really want CDR though, idc what people think about him I think he can become a solid player if given the opportunity.

CDR is not our savior. He would've been in the NBA by now. I have no clue where everyone is getting this from but he's gone nowhere and has had chances.

1) I never said CDR was our savior

2) It's not like anyone can salvage the Lakers season at this point anyways

3) Name a SF that the Lakers can actually afford to sign that will make a difference?

I see this question was just as difficult as I thought. Im struggling with any names at all. The crazy part is who ever we choose will be our starter. Wow!! By the way is Meeks starting at the 2 until Kobe comes back????

hence forth why it would be a bad idea to amnesty Metta.

We would need to sign 3 viable wings in order to cover that, and one that can start...   And for vets min?
