You know what.. Pau working with a guy like Kelly on his post game would only help now that the idea is in my mind.

Lakers bringing back DJO

  1. The Lakers announce they've signed Darius Johnson-Odom and Eric Boateng to their training camp roster, bringing group to 18 players

But in all honesty.. Lakers NEED to bring in Travis Hyman to camp!!!

Hyman > Sacre especially as a rim protector.

Dan Gadzuric? wtf?

At the 5 we already have 3 very solid guys as well as Sacre.

The one thing we could use is an athletic shotblocker. TYRUS THOMAS!!!

What's the risk in inviting him to camp? He's an athletic, 27 year-old shotblocker with upside.

Dan Gadzuric isn't exactly a spring chicken...

There'd be no point.  He isn't making the team.

They are just signing guys now for fodder.   Tyrus Thomas wouldn't come to camp just to be a throwaway, he'd sooner go play overseas.

That Hyman kid looks like a nice rim protector. That's what the Lakers need. He doesnt need to score, just defend and rebound. Plus he's young. Thanks for that Majesty. Nothing wrong with a camp invite for that kid

Not bad
Lakers cold use a weak side post defender with block potential

He got amnestied by the Bobcats.

He may not be worth the 2yr, 18 million he was owed by the Bobcats, but as a vets minimum? Worst case scenario, he is our second best frontcourt defender.

kaman ranked higher than him last year defensively.... as did Hill.. so no.    HECK BEASLEY ranked higher than Thomas!!!

Thomas ain't the guy he was his first 5 years in the league when Shaq was still on the Heat.   If he was he wouldn't be getting amnestied.

First of all, the reason I think we should sign Thomas isn't because I think he's looked great the last two years, because he obviously hasn't. I think we should sign him because I think he was in a bad situation and his game suffered because of it. I think he could have a revival on a team like the lakers, where his role is simple: play defense, run like hell, block some shots, don't shoot, run some more.

Second of all, the stuff about him not being amnestied if he played better makes no sense. I've never said he was worth a two-year 18 million deal, because he's not. Players getting amnestied has more to do with the team's payroll and options going forward. Chauncey Billups and Elton Brand are really good examples. They're good players, but were paid too much relative to what they're worth. Once they were amnestied, teams quickly picked them up.

Also, as a non-guaranteed deal on team-underdog that needs depth at the 4, what's the risk?

His game didn't suffer cause of a bad team he was on. It suffered cause he didn't put any effort into getting better and eventually squandered the one thing he was good at to the point a team like the Bobcats amnestied him at 27...
