i rather have Kobe as a player-coach.

He is.   D'antoni is just there by title.

Everything D'antoni is doing is off the recommendations of Kobe and has been since Memphis.

Even during meetings and when D'antoni would go over a gameplan, D'antoni would say his things and then Kobe would come in and give what he thinks.   D'antoni basically is willing to give the floor to Kobe if it means keeping his job

If D'antoni ever tried to chime in against something Kobe says it would go like this

ALRIGHT GUYS.. THIS IS THE PLAN!

The Knicks trading for Bargnani should help. New York will suck if he's a major part of the rotation.

If they play together in NBA they will have their own private duel - First to jack up 30 shots wins a brownie

I would love to see Melo in a Lakers uniform in 2014.

Melo has never played with a guy like Kobe before. I think it could be a huge step in the right direction for him to become a champion and take his game to the next level. I dont see Kobe as the type of guy to be out recruiting players but no doubt it would come up when they speak. Being so close I think Melo would love to play with Kobe and for LA.

back when Kobe got hurt Melo sent out a message

Melo's message for Kobe

Kobe Bryant is out six to nine months with a torn left Achilles tendon.

The news has spread around the basketball world like wildfire, and it motivated Carmelo Anthony to offer some encouraging words for Bryant, who had been doing everything he could to help the Lakers lock up the eighth seed in the Western Conference, via Twitter.

Anthony said, "Wishing my brotha Kobe a fast and healthy recovery!!!! Come back stronger. Peace God."

Late Saturday night following the Jordan Brand Classic at Barclays Center, Anthony expanded, saying, "That was tough [seeing] him to go down like that. As a friend, as a brother I never want to see him go down like that."

Does Melo expect Bryant to come back?

"I think so. That’s Kobe. Of course," he replied.

It also went into small detail about how Kobe and Carmelo helped bring everybody together as teammates in Beijing and ensure they all had a good time.

Article by Eric Pincus which was released today

"I would actually like to play with Melo," said Bryant, as documented by Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com in 2011.  "Championships are won on the inside and I'm always thinking about winning the title.  I would love to play with Melo because I would know that I have an inside presence.  That's really been the biggest strength with our Lakers team."

It's not like Melo tries to emulate everything Kobe does when they're on the court together or something

More than likely just dinner. Possible of Kobe querying how open Melo would be to signing in 2014.

Kobe likes LeBron, but there is a rivarlry there.

melo likes LeBron but there is a rivalry there.

We all know about Melo and the clutch jumpers, and people can say, he's a ball-hog or one-dimensional but I can say Pau was only here for his point scoring in the championship run.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of good centers out there right now, but I guess Pau could be that .

Let's say Kobe-Pau after this year combine for what is a max player-so 12 for Kobe and 8 for Pau

Melo at 15-18

That's a really good big 3 but not enough

Nash

Kobe

Melo

Hill

Pau

you might attract a few cheap free agents but , right now, I can't see it working

The Lakers would be able to offer a four-year, $100.5-million contract to Anthony, starting at $23.5 million.

If Bryant was willing to take a pay cut to re-sign with the Lakers (at perhaps $13.5 million), a la Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan in recent years, the team could still have up to another $20 million in cap room to lure a third star.

Steve Nash might take up some of that space but the Lakers can look to either trade him before the summer, or use their "stretch provision" to pay his remaining $9.7 million over three seasons in $3.2-million chunks.  In the latter scenario, the Lakers would still have about $17 million to spend.
