Houston Rockets center Omer Asik has formally asked the team to trade him in the wake of the team landing Dwight Howard in free agency. But the Rockets have no plans to grant Asik's wish, sources told ESPN.com.

Wouldn't mind him in LA, but I know we aren't going that route, since he'd tack on another $8.4 million in the summer of 2014.

He wants to be a starter. He wanted dealt from the Bulls, also, but I don't believe it was covered as much because Chicago wasn't media-targeted until D-Rose's injury (and even then, few seem to care).

Apparently they don't want to deal him.

Very good center and has nice defense, but not worth the 14 million tag.

I wouldn't mind him here if it wasn't for that horrid contract of his.

"You watch anime?"

$8.4 million in each of the next two seasons. Some sites are reporting inaccurate salaries for Asik and Lin. Those are the Poison Pill salaries, had Chicago matched.

Ah thanks for clarifying, upon checking other sites, true roughly 8.4 million each of the next two seasons. Same for Lin. In that case certainly seems more reasonable. Like many have noted, gotta surround Kobe with players who will know their roles when coming. Nothing else.

Asik wants to start and doesn't want to play beside or behind Dwight Howard. He has said as much.

It will be hilarious if they try to stick him at the 4

Hmm forcing a foreign born center who has played good thus far into an unnatural PF position next to a 'dominant' center. Where have we seen this scenario?

Except the Rockets would have Lin instead of Nash, and harden instead of Kobe.  And no bench...and would be more CBA screwed than we are this year AND next year....

I hope Dwight enjoys playing 48 minutes a night next to Harden just to keep that team afloat without the excuse of injuries.

The Bobcats would be wise to step in and grab him.

Probably cause of he flopped against D12 while he was in Orlando and Asik was on the Bulls which promoted:
