No one needs unconditional love when you play a game for a living that a lot of people play for fun. All the while you are getting paid millions to do it.

Dwight is 27 year old tall dude with a child's mentality.

Now it's better ;)

I hope his knees shatter on game 1 of next season.

He does not deserve to play in the NBA.

Jeez man...No one deserves to have their career end like that.

Most Franchise players expect to be treated as such.  Don't try to clown Dwight for wanting what everyone else gets...

And Dwight may have goofed off when he wasn't on the court but that dude was all business on the court.

Not everyone has to have the personality of wet paint...nor should a person's desire or heart be measured by his sense of humor.

There is nothing you say about Dwight's sense of humor that you could not have said about Shaq or Magic.

Kareem was all business like Kobe...but he did NOT demand Magic follow in his footsteps.

Kobe tried the same thing with Shaq and got pimp-slapped...but they still won...

^ your Kobe hate is annoying.

Kobe didn't chase dwight outta here anymore than the fans.

KShaq asked for another big extension after taking company time to heal.

people love making the story the way they want to make it.

BTW,SShaq was literally done two years later.

They lost in Miami, they won in Miami and then they were pathetic

Shaq slapped Kobe during the 1998-99 lockout season, in a pick-up game while at practice. It was before Kobe took the team over as facilitator of the triangle offense, and before Phil Jackson...Kobe's THIRD season.

And Kobe was slapped because he was playing too physical out on the court, in a game that meant nothing at all.

Dwight is entering his 10th NBA season, with an NBA Finals loss under his belt, and eight seasons as the primary option for his team (being Orlando). There is a huge, huge difference.

Nobody is questioning Howard's effort on the floor, unless they just hate on him out of anger. I'm questioning his inability to take the game of basketball seriously, instead of brushing off every loss as if it's just another paycheck. Magic wouldn't be laughing while his team was being blown out by the Clippers. He wouldn't have held his head high, and smiling big, losing an important game against a Western Conference contender that knocked the Lakers out the previous season.

Denver Nuggets fans saw the same exact thing with Carmelo Anthony, and they started to boo him...even before rumors surfaced that he wanted out of Denver (and I'm assuming that didn't help the situation). Orlando fans saw it in Howard. Cleveland fans noticed LeBron turned his head and moved along as if their losses to the Celtics and Magic didn't mean anything at all.

So, good...Kobe's personality is that of wet paint. So is Tim Duncan's. So is Mike's. Magic had room to laugh...he was lucky to walk into a franchise that supported his play with guys like Kareem, Worthy, Nixon, Wilkes, Worthy, Green, Cooper, Scott, etc...allowing him to actually smile every now and then. What did Magic do when he was getting his ass kicked by the Boston Celtics in the 1984 NBA Finals? What did he do when Houston beat the Lakers' ass in 1981, or when the Rockets nearly swept them in the 1986 WCF? He sure wasn't laughing.

Not everyone is Kobe or Michael Jordan. However, if he wants to be a franchise player, wants to be the first option, then he could be at least a little serious when the Lakers are getting blown out. Sure Shaq laughed and had fun, but when the Lakers were getting blown out he was not laughing. Let Dwight have fun, but let him also be serious and not be laughing when the Lakers are getting blown out by 30 points.
