Talking to a close contact of Lamar Odom's in NYC. Said while Lamar "is going through a lot in his personal life, he wants to be a Laker."

Yes! He helped bring us two championships. He's earned the right for a chance. Besides, most people don't have us seriously competing for a championship this upcoming season anyway.

This cocaine user helped the Lakers give 2 NBA Championships. I'd give him a chance to redeem himself since he really wants to be with this team again.

He left us and did this all to himself. He got butt hurt over the normal business of the NBA and now he is in a bad place. We don't owe him anything. This is a business not a charity. Lakers should fill roster spots with players who could actually prosper not ones who have drug problems.

It would be pretty interesting though I must say the potential of some of the Kardashian family getting involed in some of our Backstage: Lakers episodes along with Kanye maybe even. Imagine that.

[expletive] that. LO brought this on himself, sorry to hear that drugs have gotten to him but that's about it. HE demanded the trade out of LA. If he were sober than sure, let's take a look at him, but this isn't a [expletive]ing rehab facility.

^ I get that, but what about the kids? They're the most important thing. They would be devastated.

We could personally hire Dr. Drew.

He sucks, he's done. LO has nothing left to offer, his off the court issues affect him way too much. He can't play anymore.

11-12: 20.5 mpg. 35% from the field. 25% from 3. 4.3 boards. 6.6 points.

12-13: 19.7 mpg. 39% from the field. 20% from 3. 5.9 boards. 4 points.

That's terrible, I don't want that on my team. Why exactly does he deserve another chance? He was an integral part of the Kobe-Pau era, I'll always appreciate what he did for this franchise, but he's toast now.

Old, but for any of those who might not have seen it before and want greater insight into Lamar's tragic life:

Yes, lets alter the championship chemistry we have for Lamar Odom. Lord knows how much he will hinder us as we try to make it to the Finals.

Oh, wait...

Can somebody update the thread title? Lamar wants to be a Laker. I think that's pretty significant as it pertains to this thread no?

Wow...I'm sorry but I know many tragic stories...these people WANTED to succeed.

Lamar Odom has been given a chance to play a GAME and make MILLIONS and you don't think he's had his 2nd, 3rd, 4th et cetera chances?

We don't need him.  Nostalgia should NOT dictate business decisions...especially in a HIGH RISK, LOW REWARD situation.

LO is a slacker in the BEST of situations...this is more like a WORST CASE scenario...

HECK NO to LO...

^ You would pass on potentially saving a person's life?

You wanna save his life?  Have him committed to rehab.  The NBA is NOT a rehabilitation facility nor is Lamar Odom required for the NBA to function...

It also stands to reason that Lamar Odom does NOT need the NBA to live.

If you want to talk about saving his life, start with CHANGING his life.  Obviously, he can't handle the money and freedom being a millionaire possesses.

Definition of INSANITY?  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results.

So continuing to support his habit is "saving his life"?

I'm just saying the only time he's seemed to not have issues is when he's been a Laker. It seems like he's at peace when that's the case.

If being on a certain bball team is what is going to bring you peace then you have much bigger issues off the court.  That Laker thing was probably just a small portion of the issues he's been having.  Playing for the Lakers isn't going to save his life lol.  This year it may kill him lol.

I'm just saying the only time he's seemed to not have issues is when he's been a Laker. It seems like he's at peace when that's the case.

Forget his drug issues can Lamar even still play at an effective level is the question.  Dude looked so out of shape last year.  Even if he is focused, you dont take a chance on a 33 year old that needs to get into shape.
