"You are what you are as a franchise. Why stoop to a level so low and pathetic by tanking? Good/Great players come and go; you get one then great but if not move on...don't embarrass your franchise by tanking. I would expect this kind of dialogue from bobcats fans...not Lakers fans."

Thank you Windu!  Tried to get this point across as well.

isnt this what OKC did and look at how they're sustaining it. They now have two top 10 players who wil probably help their team be contenders for a good 8-10 year duration

Im talking about tanking for 1 stinkin season, we literally have nothing to play for this year. 2014 draft has a phenomenal class we really need to cash in on it, then compete...the stars will flock here

Times have changed Fido, NBA players fraternize, history doesnt mean a rip...its about what a franchise can do to woo the superstars in and they go in packs

OKC has never won a damn thing.

You don't do dumb stuff like tank in an effort to win. You play the games with the pieces that you have. The front office has already made terrible decisions...tanking will only continue the free-fall. Any professional sports team that tanks deserves to have their history erased.

MDi regarding OKC

What year did they REALLy become a threat to win the title

2012, realistically.

Now are they a contender? Without Harden or Kevin Martin and now Westbrook's clock of invincibility has worn down.

They may never sniff the Finals again

Why should we look forward to that.

At the teams that tank for success, only Spurs have been very good for a number of years.

OKC is a helluva lot closer to a championship than Dallas, us or Boston.

If you need to know we have 1 win in the last 12 playoff games. Its pathetic. Whatever we're doing is not working. Time to make a change of strategy

Wait you dont think a team that has two top 10 players wont sniff the FInals again? I'll take my chances. What other team out West can say they do? Rockets maybe but thats it

so what. That's the price you pay for winning two titles.

I'll take our 5 titles in the past 17 seasons . That's a great career for anyone.

you don't get it bro.

teams that tank end up with no Superstar.

houston just traded for harden and then acquire d dwight.

no need for us to tank.

I choose the route that lets us keep Kobe, Pau, Hill, adds some youth, and gets us below the repeaters tax.
In other words, please get rid of blake, Nash, Ron.

And if you haven't noticed the Lakers front office might be leaning towards tanking too....we've made literally no moves since Dwight left and whatever is left of the roster is not good enough to make the playoffs even if we add free agents. Our team is in that condition thanks to injuries/age

Our SG/SF rotation is abysmal outside of Kobe.  We dont even have to try tanking. As is we're a bottom 5 team in the West

I wouldn't tank a season for 25% chance of 1st Pick.

Yes, it's beyond possible. they have nothing in the frontcourt and injuries bite different teams , last year it only was a torn meniscus for Westbrook , just happened to be at the wrong time. What if it's ibaka's ACL, or Durant's back.

Chemistry, Coach Brooks, a number of things.

it dont matter . Why don't you just become an OKC fan until the Lakers get good again.

BTw, Did John and Karl win?

DidWeren't Kobe and Dwight both Top 10 last season?

lol

Top 10 picks next years draft are franchise cornerstones...the worst you can leave with is a Chris Bosh type player. Its that loaded

They've started the spin job already on convincing the fans its ok to tank

http://espn.go.com/b...s/post?id=36836

Plan B is underway

“Should Dwight leave, we’ll have a Plan B,” Kupchak said the night of the draft, about a week before L.A. learned Howard would indeed be bolting for the Rockets. “It’s not going to be as good as Plan A. But we do have a plan that goes beyond one year.”

“It is a system. It’s not like there are no rules in the NBA,” he said. “There is a system that is in place that provides the team that does the worst [to get] the best picks. If you have good teams with good players, then the players have to be paid well. That puts you into an environment where you don’t have free-agent money and you can’t use exceptions. It’s hard to replenish that team.

“At the same time, the players get older. It’s a natural cycle that you have to live with, but you plan the best for opportunities. That’s not to say there won’t be a two- or three-year [rebuilding] period like there was in the early '90s. But if there was, we feel like it would be short-lived.”

OKC is a helluva lot closer to a championship than Dallas, us or Boston.

If you need to know we have 1 win in the last 12 playoff games. Its pathetic. Whatever we're doing is not working. Time to make a change of strategy

Remind yourself who are the head coaches of those two teams.

If LA would simply hire a coach then this team can move forward in a positive direction. You cannot undersell the value of a competent head coach in professional sports.

And what was OKC...before they were OKC? And what exactly are they now? They're fighting for the championship just like the other 29 teams in this league.

I'll tell you what we're doing: We're hiring [expletive]ty coaches and retaining [expletive]ty players. We failed in PJ's last season here but we won FIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS with this man, we got our revenge on Boston, and people actually believed we had a shot with PJ at the helm. There's no chance in hell with Mike D'Antoni...I don't care if we tank every year, we'd still lose because there is no one to lead these men.

We did change strategy. We tried Mike Brown's micromanage way and it failed; we tried Mike D'Antoni's score score score way and it predictably failed. One strategy that needs to be resurrected among this franchise is making sound decisions and we have not seen that these last few years. So, there's no need to resort to this loser mentality about tanking when we put ourselves in this position with our own stupid decisions. The only thing that we need to be focused on now is how to win...LEGITIMATELY.
