Im really concerned about the next few years. How are we going to recruit with no future star players on the team...when Free agents look at our roster and you have an aging Gasol and Kobe is that really convincing?

I think we're heading in the dark ages here...we need to tank and rack up some picks for 2014. We can rebound fast in 2-3 yrs IMO then the free agents get excited at the youth and potential in our roster

How did Houston get harden.

Offer an up and coming guy a little more than he is worth and hopes he earns it.

I agree. This is year to get a young star in the draft. I hope we don't waste it on a futile attempt at a title.

We ever going to get any young talent?

Does not matter what we do now. This season will suck. Just get under the luxury tax and start rebuilding in 2014. We can do [expletive] now.

The worst thing about this season is without even getting clark we dont have any young talent that we could develop. This team is nothing but AARP members.

MDA picked Hill over Jamison and was playing him those backup minutes until Hill went down with injury.

Ryan Kelly?

Maybe Glock?

If it's gonna a blank season, at least give a chance to those young players to have some minutes and show what they are capable of. Let's try to "develop" them. :bounce:

MDA hates Hill.

Hill played quite a bit this season when he was healthy. He averaged 15.8 MPG when he was healthy. That is only second to his first season with Houston where he averaged 16.2. (source).

If Hill is our only capable PF, MDA will have no choice but to start him. Next year could be a career year for him unless Mitch can work that magic wand of his to acquire a better PF.

I wouldn't count the Lakers out of some big moves this weekend/week. Plan B has probably been in place and tweaked since the beginning of the season. I don't believe the team is placing all of its eggs in 2014's basket. How many unrestricted free agents will be available in 2014? 2015 is more appealing.

All I know is the FO office really needs to do something to get Nash excited. I don't think he came here for this crap. I can't see Mitch rolling with what we have though. Even if we sign some good players for 1 or 2 years. He owes the Fans,Kobe and Nash at least that

If I were Mitch, I would trade Pau and anyone else valuable for picks. Amnesty Kobe out of respect so he can try to win a ring with another team before he retires. And then just tank hard and pick up some younger players so that LA will be able to recruit better free agents in the future.

I'm a huge Kobe fan but it would be awful to see him push himself to exhaustion for the next 2-3 years for a [expletive]ty team with a [expletive]ty coach. This isn't 2004 anymore. If the Lakers aren't going to be committed to winning the next 3 years (which they can't, because there's no way to do so at this point) why waste Kobe's time?

Because unlike prior to the back to back, winning removed many critics. His chase for 6 is just a personal goal and probably one instilled by the media, at this point he knows the value of finishing his career with just one team

Kobe's goal has always been to win. And he's not going to quit on the Lakers. But it would probably be in his best interest and the team's to part ways now, that way he can use his skill level to lead a team to a championship and the Lakers can concentrate on rebuilding.

But at this point Kobe's not going to leave and the Lakers won't amnesty him, because it's probably too late for Kobe to leave anyways. So it's just going to slow down the rebuilding process since LA can't tank or anything with Kobe still here.

Anyone want to feel sad?

We could be sitting on Chris Paul and Dwight Howard (roughly 42m between them and a roughly 60m salary cap) with room for another near-max player in 2014 and a re-signed Kobe.

Now what we're sitting on? Mike D'Antoni and Ryan Kelly.

Stop the Madness.

You want the Lakers to amnesty Kobe out of respect and say "we can't win Kobe. Go somewhere else like Miami on a smaller contract and win a championship" and then tank

Never have I seen such... no word for it :smh:
