The Memphis Grizzlies were able to lock up defensive specialist Tony Allen on Tuesday by re-signing the veteran guard to a four-year deal according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Tony Allen has agreed to a four-year, $20 million contract extension with the Memphis Grizzlies

This is after the Clippers went hard for him

This just in: Source tells me #Clippers no longer targeting Afflalo but Tony Allen, whom Doc coached w/#Celtics

They were also going hard after OJ Mayo.

So the Clippers tried to go after Mayo, Tony Allen, and Damar Derozan(which they could have had for giving up Bledsoe)

but instead of Derozan they got JJ Redick and Jared Dudley(welcome home!) instead for Bledsoe.

And now as Mayo seems to be closing in on a deal with the Bucks it doesn't look like the Clippers to sign him either.

So the last domino piece was Tony Allen's decision.

I tell you what, if Allen decided to leave Memphis and go be coached by Doc again it would have been a MAJOR move on the Clippers part.

So that said, I'm glad he remained in Memphis :D

Damn CP3 and Tony Allen would've done a lot of damage in the defensive end.

Clippers lost out.

Despite his rocky attitude, the guy is a defensive killer with serious drive an grit. Memphis was smart to stick with him.

If Clippers would have got Tony Allen...they would be scary good.
