I don't think Majesty understand what I'm saying. The percentages you're mentioning are only their cap holds as a FA. The Lakers can offer much more than that.

Ah I see.

Who cares, it's a ROLE player who was NOT going to take us to a title.

I guess ANYTIMe one can take a shot at the front office, one must.

its the lakernation way.

man , when Kobe retires, watch how this place changes

You need solid role players. Weren't you pining for Jordan Farmar to come back???

A compounding effect of this is that it will solidify Dwight's departure...He's not an idiot, and see's that Clark was one of the few (probably only) talented, young, two-way players on this team. I'm honestly to the point where I would tell Dwight to sign with the Rockets if he asked me directly. This team is completely injury riddled and old, and can't even hold onto the few good, young players they have left.

He's a starter on both the Lakers and Cav's.

He's not a backup. He had a ton of talent and was easily worth 4.5

He was a starter for half the season once we found out he was good. How does that make him a bench player

How does anyone not understand that the Lakers couldn't have possibly matched the 4.5 nor gone above it.

Its saddening ... I think if he didnt mention he'll take less things would've been different ..

I think Lakers will re-consider amnestying Metta ...

Which doesnt make sense if amnestying Metta cost 30m or something ..

he was one of the worst players on the floor vs the spurs...

he had a nice stretch during the season...
but, the lakers were a terrible team during that stretch...
no way is clark even worth CLOSE to 4 mil a year

Can't keep a bright, young player, but we had no problem giving Metta World Garbage 7-8 mil a year...Just disgusting. [expletive] our front office. Seriously.

Hindsight is always 20/20. At the time of Metta's contract, he was seen as a solid player just a little removed from his star days. He had a 17.1/5.2/3.3 season with Houston the year before he came to us. 7 million actually is a bargain for those stats. Unfortunately as most contracts play out, the value gets progressively worse as time goes on. Why are there even bad contracts to begin with? Contracts are signed to estimate future value, and that's not always correct. It's not like the front office decided to pay MWP 7 million starting from THIS year on a whim.

In fact, I'm sure the vast majority of people here would be ecstatic to have Rudy Gay for 7 million a year, as his stats are very similar to MWP's Houston year. I'm aware they have a 3 year age gap at the signing of said hypothetical contracts, but who knows how Rudy will turn out once his athleticism declines.
