It seems like a lot of Laker role players end up making 4-5 mill when they leave.

Early Bird RIghts we can offer

175% of his previous contract   (1,240,000)  is $2,170,000 per year

Maximum Bird Rights we can offer

250% of his previous contract (1,240,000) is $3,100,000 per year

The Cavs 4.5 million a year is still more than both of those.

So I don't know where the notion that we could offer him 10 million comes from....

That's what their cap hold is as a FA depending on what kind of bird rights they have, not what the Lakers can offer.

I'm not understanding where you're getting your numbers from.

Based on what you're saying, the max the Pacers will be able to offer Paul George, when he becomes a free agent next summer, is 250% of his $3.3 million...which is only $8.25 million.

Max, for George, would have been $13.7 million last season (assuming we push back the dates).

LARRY BIRD EXCEPTION -- This exception allows teams to exceed the cap in order to re-sign their own free agents, up to the player's maximum salary.

Ah, correct.  I didn't understand where the percentages were coming from.

No, Paul George would be coming off the 3rd year of a rookie scale contract wouldn't he?  That would enable him to be offered the league maximum right?

Kind of Free Agent

Larry Bird, following the third season of his rookie scale contract

previous salary
Any

Amount

The maximum amount the team can pay the player using the Larry Bird exception (see question number 25)

That's what Paul George would qualify for I think.

And I'm getting my numbers from here

While this is true Clark is like the new Lin.  You bite on him now you could be sorry.  Just wasnt good enough to warrant hurting the 2014 cap room.  Another thing people forget is Jordan Hill will be back.  If Pau and Hill dont go down we dont see very much Clark at all.

Dwight Howard is holding this team hostage. Mitch is waiting on this guy to decide so we can decide what direction are we going into 2013-2014 season.

If the Lakers were to match the $4.5 mill Earl Clark got from CLE, it would cost them roughly $11.3 mill w/ taxes to keep him. Too steep

11.3 million for Clark?

Well at least he'd be getting paid more than Nash and Metta then :D

I don't think Majesty understand what I'm saying. The percentages you're mentioning are only their cap holds as a FA. The Lakers can offer much more than that.

He was drafted in 2010...so after this season, no QO, he's coming off his fourth year.  According to you, that should be 200% or 250% of his salary, which is not accurate.

You're using cap hold percentages.

LA could have matched the $4.5 million, with no problems.  They just didn't.

No. The lakers would be paying that in taxes. It says if that's what lakers would pay if they matched the 4.5mil. Caught.

Can't keep a bright, young player, but we had no problem giving Metta World Garbage 7-8 mil a year...Just disgusting. [expletive] our front office. Seriously.
