We keep coming back to the same fundamental issues and analysis.  We have a coach who won't (or can't) adjust to the talent on his team.  Beyond that, some basketball basics just don't change, but we have a coach who insists on trying it his way, which has never resulted in much success (by Laker standards) even in ideal circumstances.

I don't know why people have the feeling that all the injuries were got out of the way last year; next year we're starting with the most significant injury to our most important player, plus everyone is older, we have the same coach, and once players start compiling injuries it increases their odds of getting hurt again either by re-injury or injury due to compensation...

All i'm saying is that with the injuries we had and the way the coaching situation was handled, we weren't going to win, but that's not the same as saying this team isn't capable of winning.

I think these guys, with Howard, are capable of winning it all with a few minor tweeks. I know Kobe is injured and everyone is older, but there is enough talent on this team to go all the way.

The lakers can win it all next year...

I cannot figure out a hypothetical situation where it happens, but it CAN happen

like when im down 40 points in NBA2k... Im thinking... hey, the other guy can still lose power or something...

Gee johny you have been pretty feisty lately.

I'll just say this Real Deal. Right on point. It was amazing to me that everyone one was concerned about kobe's minutes and as soon as he blows his achilies it's a "freak accident". Body parts do wear down after extended use, Dantoni's game managment was horrible.

1. This team needs to come back healthy.

2. A new 1 & 3.

3. A new coach/system.

This current team seems built for the triangle.

What Big 4 do we have this season?

still waiting for a answer. I cant figure it out. Why is everyone pretending we still have last seasons roster that didnt do anything?

  • D12, probably not on the team.
  • KB, probably not on the court.
  • Nash, probably not able to carry the load for a full season
  • Pau, probably improbable
  • MWP, probably gone in some capacity
  • MDT, probably still the dumbest coach I've ever seen.

If D12 actually stays for whatever reason....then at least we have something to build off. But as it is now it looks as if he will be visiting LA next season.

Any team can win the championship. Heck even the bobcats the opportunity to win. But If you talking about the chances to win one? Well thats another story. Lakers probably will be the middle of the pack team if D12 leaves and even if D12 sign, lakers probably a second round exit.  Why?   Mike D Antoni.

Requirements for winning a championship based on NBA history.

1. Atleast Two superstars on a team.  example Bulls Jorden Pippen, Kobe Shaq, Kobe Pau, Lebron wade bosh.

2. If no two superstars, atleast a great coach example  2004 Detroit pistons, Dallas Mavs

3. Great roll players example  "fisher, rick fox, robert horry, sam cassell, ray allen, battier

4. Get along with coach and respect coach.

lakers have none of those right now.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

There no reason why the Lakers can't make the playoffs again.  But all the pieces of the puzzle have to put in place--healthy players, talent on the floor and on the bench, and good leadership from the players and coaches.

The challenges are a severely injured and aging Kobe Bryant and a perpetual lack of chemistry aggravated by Kobe Bryant coming back 3 months into the season and trying to seemlessly integrate himself into a team which was not his for the 1st three months.  Add aging players MWP and Gasol, and a poor bench and there are definitely some roadblocks.

If Dwight walks and MDA stays, the Lakers team should just bring back Eddie Jones, Nick Van Excel, Sam Perkins, Vlade, Tony Smith, and Pig Miller.  If I have to watch the Lakers from the mid 90s, give me the players who were playing then.  Also don't forget NBADL call up Reggie Jordan.

can I ask ages of everyone here, please?

Lakers fans, NOT from LA, tend to be fans of players.

in that case, yo will see a finger pointing situation, where when things go wrong, you point towards, other players( not your favorite), certainly coaching and even MORE management.

Sucks

how old are you?

Im 32 turning 33. Lakers fan since I was 5 years old hense on my info stating lakers fan since 1985.   Never live in LA.  Moved from Philly when I was 7 straight to Orange County but watch the lakers on tv when I was 5.   Lakers fans for life.  I am only loyal to the lakers. I know this is a business and there is no such thing as loyalty with players.  Players come and go but team stays "unless you suck as a team and forced to move.'    But it doesnt mean I can't be fans of players ONLY if they are a laker.  But thats just me.
