if we get Young. I'd be happy with this off-season despite the circumstance

I could see Nick Young starting over Meeks until Kobe comes back to help produce more offense, but once Kobe gets back (and starts of course), slip Nick back to the bench.

And then Meeks would become a trade piece?  Or an insurance policy I guess

If only Meeks could create his own shot. Sorry, but we need shot-creators on this team and Nick Young does that 100X better than Jodie. Even Goudelock does it better, but he's not here so that's irrelevant at this point.

Nope Goudelock is in Chicago where he could be very useful and will get minutes.

Despite many of our fellow fans thinking otherwise, I'm pretty confident he could potentially find a role there as well, especially after seeing what Chicago was able to do throughout the season and playoffs with such a depleted roster. They find ways to get the most out of their players. Probably not as much as San Antonio nor as efficiently, but effectively enough nonetheless.

last stand - This killed me when he was with the Lakers before and I hope it doesn't go on during his second stint.

It's FARMAR not Farmer.

Do you think Nick Young would start and Meeks would go back to the bench?

I'm assuming you're talking about if Kobe is out to start the season?  If so, Young is definitely more of scoring threat than Meeks.  You get the same type of game that Kobe has (obviously not even close to be as good), but the playing style would allow the Lakers to insert Kobe back in without missing a beat.

But who knows what D'Antoni wants.

Nick Young will pull up for a 3 falling out of bounds on the fast break.

I think he'll fancy Young over Meeks ;)

But on a serious tip I think that since Young can create better than Meeks he'd be the better starter.

However if he is coming off the bench for Meeks he'd give a different dynamic anyway which could work either way.

We'll see if he signs.  We'll know in the next few days I guess.

He's coming for cheap. He can drop 30 against a team not expecting it. I'm all for it.

No matter what happens, I'm still not liking this idea of attempting to compete this year. There's no reason to be an 8th seed again, but oh well

LeBron James will NOT leave the Miami Heat.

Well looking at our lineup(without Kobe till November)

Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar
Nick Young, Jodie Meeks
Chris Douglas-Roberts, Metta World Peace(currently), Lamar Odom
Jordan Hill, Ryan Kelly
Pau Gasol, Chris Kaman

That is actually a nice young team, one that could probably get  the middle of the pack in the "East" But I'm sure Steve Nash or even Blake can find Young for some shots, Hill will be getting rebounds to make up for Pau's lack of jump and Kaman is consistent.

When Kobe comes back we'll actually have a deep bench.  Yes.

But the most important thing having Meeks, Douglas-Roberts and Young would more or less ensure we wouldn't have to overplay Kobe an exponential amount of minutes because if the bench isn't clicking Young will be sent in and asked to create his own shots, for better or for worse.   But at the very least it cuts down on Kobe's minutes.

^ Sports is about competiting.

this obsessions with titles is dumb to me.

the Lakers don't ALWAYS win, they never have. i can point to droughts in their history.

One thing I can't find is years in which they tanked.

There have been some bad years, but Lakers always try.

tanking for Wiggins, give me a break.

Nash,Kobe( who might be the same elite player he has been the last 4-5 years),gasol,Kaman, hill,Meeks and whomever else.

this team will be a team that you can be proud of.

I mean last season, we had SUPERSTARS...that doesn't mean [expletive] if the chemistry is off.

tanking is for [expletive]

no he won't. He won't crack their rotation.

rose,hinrich,Jimmy Butler,Deng.

They have enough perimeter players.

Goudelock needs to improve so much to put one of those guys on the bench...
