This is a terribly constructed team. We're going to be massacred by any team with an above average offense. I mean, our last line of defense right now is either Pau Gasol or Chris Kaman. And we have a trio of Nash/Blake/Farmar where Blake is the best defender and he's mediocre. Oh yeah, D'Antoni is still the coach. Barring some ridiculous trade or amazing steal in free agency, this team is going to be pretty bad.

Jordan Hill?

We are on our way to getting raped in defense.

Jordan Hill is good, but he's not going to be able to defend 5 different positions at once. He's not a good enough anchor to man a defensive system either, too small. He's an energy guy and can do his job as a help defender in spurts, but you can't count on him to keep it up for big minutes on a nightly basis.

We'll have PGs destroying us all night long, SGs are going to have it easy with Kobe coming off a major surgery and less agile. Don't even get me started on Meeks. SF is a mess, like usual, and any above average PF or C will have a field day versus our front line. It doesn't bode well for us that the West has the majority of top tier PFs in the NBA. We are going to be horrible on defense, even worse than we were this year if we go off the current roster.

It's going to be very, very ugly.

relax my friend...  I expect the worse, but hope for the best.

In a way, this season could be fun. seeing old teammates come back... coaching situation... kobe moving up on scoring record possibly... gasol being traded/performing better.... seeing if they can make the playoffs... watching us go against houston... We can't take sports so seriously. We already do that in real life... let us be entertained and let them worry about their job.

Exactly. Im stoked for this season. More so than the previous two. Basketball is entertainment, I hope the team has fun with it.

Welcome back Jordan! I'm starting to miss the good old days... it was only 3 and 4 years ago  :( Seems a lot longer in many ways.

I know I sound crazy but I actually think we could be a 4-6th seed this season. Especially if Kobe makes a fast recovery and is back early. We have a strong starting five, nothing flashy like the Heat but we have a group of guys who have very high basketball IQ and lots of experience. If they all stay healthy I can see them being a tough team to beat. Guys like Farmar and Sasha were big contributors back when we won those 2 titles, they have the heart and the passion to win. Strange things happen in sport so im pretty excited for next season!

If (and that's a big IF) that were to happen, Lamar would need to become the Lamar of old.

I remember a majority of people hating Farmar.  I hope he's improved his game.

Not a big fan of him when he was here a few years ago but I'm glad they're bringing the old gang together.

Its also nice that he's taking less money to go back here. Hopefully his game improved.

Why the hate?

A much younger (read: inexperienced) Farmar was good enough to be the backup PG on two championship teams!

Are we in a better position now? I'd rather have Farmar than Blake to be honest.

It's highly unlikely, but for the right price... why not?

Love it! Love it!

Man, the Lakers' eye for supporting talent is really terrible.

theyre not trying to get "supporting" talent. Just field a team as cheap as possible.

Farmar is a second string player. What are we going to do with Blake?

No need to have 2 good/decent back-up PGs. Unless we are planning on significantly reducing Nash's minutes
