I dont think these guys are bad players and i think both guys can be moved quite easily.

You're quite wrong. They have poison contracts

If he leaves, then do nothing

With the amount of cap space in 2014 and a potential lottery pick in 2014 (in a stacked draft), next year could be a play it out with a bad team year

If the Lakers don't S&T Dwight then I expect them to really clean out the big contracts..Pau is getting traded regardless, Nash could get traded, Kobe could get amnestied, MWP should get traded or bought out

The Lakers, if Dwight leaves, should just stockpile draft picks, young players, and preserve cap space

It really makes no sense to bring back Nash/Kobe/MWP/Pau without Dwight and watch them struggle to crack .500 all season and end up out of the playoffs by a couple of games and at the bottom of the lottery

Just a reality...only if Dwight leaves

Last year was exceptional, injuries and coaching-related screwed us ..

We  can still compete even if Howard is not on board.

small adjustments can help alot.

If D12 leaves its going to be

Pau/Sacre

Hill/kelly

Clark/???

Kobe/Meeks/Goudelock

Nash/Blake/Morris

We would amnesty MWP too. Sign a backup SF

After Dwight walks, lakers need to sign young players, on short deals...

Let Pau play center... Have kobe take his time coming back...

Run offense thru Pau, showcase him for teams...

Trade Pau for draft picks + young players...

a lottery 2014 pick, and a 2016 pick, plus a couple young players, for Pau...

Then, lakers are in full tank mode, when kobe comes back...

kobe chases down Jordan in the all-time scoring list...

Lakers get a top pick (WIGGINS) and have all the cap space they need...

Kobe resigns, lakers have 2-3 young players from 2014 draft...

I almost want the lakers to go into full rebuild mode...

Let us see who the true fans are, and who starts rooting for the clips

quit the hate...

Pau is the perfect player for a lottery-bound team to run their offense thru...

he will put up great stats, be entertaining, and wont put the team in danger of winning

He's someone that probably thinks we're better without Dwight.

Who thinks that?

Lakers team has a much better chance at winning an NBA championship in the 2013-214 season WITH Dwight then without him...

however... I think we got a better chance at the number 1 pick, then we do at winning number 17

And if Wiggins stays in college another year?

Like I said.  The Lakers don't tank.  They'd sooner trade a player for a high draft pick over sacrificing a season intentionally losing for one.

Wiggins is NOT playing more then one season of college ball...

But if he did... TANK AGAIN!!!

Im just saying, if Howard walks, lakers title chances FALL SERIOUSLY...

Pau can be a starting center on a championship team, but SF and PF are problem spots...

PG and SG are problem spots...

Lakers roster is not championship quality... and there isn't much that would make them championship contenders for next season...

in order to contend next season, step 1 is Dwight...

if Dwight walks, I think the lakers HAVE to look at rebuilding thru the draft option

They're not gonna "tank" if Dwight leaves.   So you can forget that, they don't tank.  You'd see a better chance of them trading Pau for draft picks if they wanted to go that route.   But intentionally running an offense through Pau and intentionally losing games? no.

If Dwight leaves its pretty much over for the Kobe era.  Kobe is not going to some how become get better or stay the same 2-3 years from now.  Even if Kobe didnt get hurt..he isnt leading this team to the Finals as the best player.  D12 has to be the best player and Nash and Pau have to be healthy and contributing

Kobe will be 35 years old this coming season.  And he's coming off an Achilles injury.  Even in the most optimistic scenario, Kobe has maybe one year remaining as an elite player.  Then maaaaybe another year as an All-NBA caliber player.  After that it's a very fast downhill slide to mediocrity.  I don't even remember the last time a wing player managed to stay relevant at age 38.

Remember MJ as a wizard?  Yeah, that was him at age 38.  And he only had 13.5 years of professional basketball on his legs.  At that same age, Kobe will have had 19 years of wear and tear on his legs.

There's precious few years remaining in Kobe's career as an elite player, and he ain't wasting it to "tank for Wiggins".  By the time 18-yr old Andrew Wiggins is good enough to lead an NBA team into title contention, Kobe will be looong past retirement age.

If Dwight leaves, the Lakers can either re-load, or they can re-build.  If we rebuild, then Kobe ain't sticking around after his contract expires next summer.  He's way too competitive to waste his final few years on a rebuilding team.  Lakers will have to re-load immediately if they don't want to see Kobe finish his career in another uniform.  There is no easy solution to that problem.  So it's best to avoid the problem altogether... by re-signing Dwight.

We carry on like we always do. We have been champions without Dwight and we will still be champions with him or without him. He does not define our franchise. While it may take longer than if Dwight stays im confident and always will be we can win championships. The one reason I am is because when we are able to assemble a championship caliber team we will go into the luxury tax if it will give us a chance to win. Not many teams will do that especially with the new CBA.

Unlike small market teams we dont have to break up a contender like OKC did due to the financial penaltys of the CBA. While state taxes for LA may put some players off, the Hollywood lifestyle and weather will always entice players here. While players may not care about history of the game these days, they understand the Lakers arent no bottom feeder team and will always look to be a contender.

Now while I am not a fan of tanking, I am not fully against it. However I dont think its a wise idea when you have a Billion dollar TV deal with TWC. It was bad enough watching Backstage Lakers last year let alone watching a tanking Lakers team lol. Also we possibly may be a semi tank team anyway. If we dont make any major moves and with Kobe out for the 1st part of the season we may not have to try and tank lol.

We could look for a S&T for Dwight. There are a few scenarios especially if you could get a 3rd team involved. We most likely want to stay in the playoff hunt if we do a S&T. However with Houston freeing up space Dwight can just sign. If we just let Dwight walk we could have a firesale and full on tank, but more likely we amnesty MWP and shave some salary off and just go with what we have. Wait for the 2014 free agency and retool.

I personally am looking forward to see what they do whether Dwight resigns or doesnt. I just cant wait till the Dwight domino drops, then we know where our franchise is at then.
