Well this is interesting.

I just find it odd that D'Antoni would hire a Phil Jackson guy after the "We want Phil" fiasco last year.

The three videos below are clear further evidence that Rambis goes against MDA.

Take notes MDA:

Kurt talks about what the Lakers need to improve:

Kurt Rambis, also the true original Superman.

Keep in mind that this is the same guy, that while live on ESPN,  blasted the Lakers for choosing Mike D'Antoni over Phil Jackson. He took shots at D'Antoni repeatedly in the week where we learned Mike D'Antoni was going to be our head coach.

On a negative note (for those hoping this is a sign of Phil coming), D'Antoni did consider hiring him when he was first hired.

Source: D'Antoni considered adding Kurt Rambis to his staff as an olive branch to LAL fans salty about Phil.

But didn't probably because Rambis attacked him. So why hire him now?

Yep Mark Madsen is the replacement from Shaw. No doubt in my mind now. Like I said, it all wasn't coincidence but I really REALLY hope that the Rambis rumor happens!!

Either D'antoni is compromising the barn in order to keep his job(he'll buy books on zen next).

Or Phil has been choosing the personnel.

Hopefully it's true.

Woj is usually reliable so my hopes are up. Let the fire Mike D'antoni campaign begin

I don't see why D'Antoni would hire one of Phil's guys unless it's coming from someone higher up. I don't see it happening.

So what's the rules on hiring coaching staff? Is the Head Coach the only person who can hire assistant coaches? Or can upper-management add assistant coaches manually?

Maybe if we disect the rules we can find out what is really happening.

Management hires because they are dealing directly with ownership, who decides how much money they want to spend on the staff.

General Rule: Head coach "recommends" assistants, management signs off on them because ownership signs the checks.

So in this case, D'Antoni is recomminding to Kurt Rambis?

Maybe Rich Bicker is right and D'Antoni is recommending Kurt Rambis so us Laker fans can shutup...

That Rick Bucher tweet is a year old. It was tweeted when Mike D'Antoni was hired last year.

Some people speculate that D'Antoni is recommending Rambis to soften his seat. In other words, so he would not get fired. Others are saying that the Lakers are slowly assembling Phil Jackson's coaching staff. If the Lakers are interested in Jim Cleamons or Frank Hamblin, I think it is safe to assume that Phil is coming.
