It's taking longer than expected, but source says Rambis return to Lakers is "on track." Just details to work thru

Reminds me of the "Imminent" days.

Seems like they're working on a buyout here too from Rambis' European club.

Hopefully there is a clause in the contract in which if antoni starts 0-5 Kurt becomes the head coach

Not sure why so many want Rambis as a head coach. He was awful when he was last a head coach. I think he's a good assistant bunch not much of a head coach.

I meant as a head coach. Everyone seems to be assuming we will fire MDA mid season and Rambis will be head coach.

Rambis is a respected guy in the Lakers' organisation and should we need another head coach mid-season (please!!!) then he can probably step right in.

His problem in Minny was that he was trying to implement the triangle w/o the right personnel. Sounds familiar?  -Hopefuly he learned from that and from watching the Lakers of late.

I'd take Rambis as head coach if Phil was there advising him ala Tex Winters.

Does basically done mean 100%? What could be the last final details they're ironing out?

Well best case scenario for me is  us going 72-9  sweeping our way to a championship and D'antoni re-signing.

Phil stepping in, us landing Carmelo and LeBron, going 75-6 and winning another championship, signing John Wall the next year, going 74-7 winning one more Championship and Kobe retiring along with Phil.

That's my BEST case scenario =P   As should be any Lakers fans biggest hope... hope and reality may differ    But hey.. I want what I want lol. :bleh:

I'm not sure why guys want MDA out so bad.  Lets see what he can do with the roster strategic wise.  Guys want to call others out for saying the Lakers cant win 50 games and should be as bad as possible but want to constantly remind the board how they want MDA fired and how they want him to fail.  Shouldnt you guys be hoping he figures it out?  Shouldn't you want him and Rambis to mesh as a staff and come up with ways to have a better offense and defense?

I want this cat to prove me wrong. I just don't like him. Give him shooters, less big men, youth, a training camp and hopefully a healthy roster. And let's see what he does. No matter what though, I will never like him. Just a huge joke for a hire. I'm hoping Madsen and Rambis balances him out. Seriously, I do.

Smdwight was bad energy. Last year was more focused on Dwight resigning with us or not.. Not championship focused other than Kobe.. Everyone else clocked out mentally.

I think we are gonna make the playoffs and if healthy.. Anything goes

Of course, it would be awesome if MDA proved everyone wrong.

I think he's been given an very unfair treatment. I heard him say on an interview, that when you hired a guy like him, you hired a certain style of play. I also think there was certain moves on the drawing board that never happened, like trading Pau, and with the bad start and all the injuries it just wasn't possible to do much. Another point is Howard, who everyone belived would want to do a bit of pick-and-roll, but didnt.

All that said. MDA should have realized a lot earlier that the roster wasn't build for his system and taken the consequence and played to their strengths. Then we would have been a lot better, D12 a lot happier, Kobe wouldn't have to play 60 min per game and we could have had a totally different situation. Then going forward and in free agency MDA could handpick the players to build with. But he didn't and that's why I want him out.
