What I want to know is, Rambis has been critical of D'Antoni all season long, and now he is his assistant? Something's else might be up if ya catch my drift

Triple Ocho & several others have pointed this out as well. In fact, I've posted videos clearly demonstrating this on various occasions as evidence. He made no secret about it in public so yeah, it's pretty incredible that these two will suddenly be working together. Either they had a very intense meeting where they found an almost miraculous way of making amends & peace or really, not sure what else could've happened cause it was just so toxic.

Still nothing from what I see. Guess Ramona may have been wrong about Friday. Will update.

Lakers have a game today. Maybe we'll hear something on it then possibly.

Oh yeah of course, those few details!

Like when Mike D'Antoni is going to be fired.

Will LeBron or Melo fit in the triangle in 2014...

Possibly bringing back Phil Jackson.

All these features take a while to figure out so give them some time.

Too late. Dwight left. If they were gonna do this, they would've done it before his decision

Mike D'Antoni is GARBAGE.

According to Nash himself, Lakers had a very good defensive coordinator last year.

So Rambis's appointment was only news - as it sparked the hope of Phil coming back .. thereby keepin D12.

There is no D12 and no Phil .. So Rambis' appointment is not really significant anymore

also according to Nash himself, he feels that they as a team should be blamed more for not playing defense and that a lot of it fell on the players shoulders of not playing defense.

They came into last year with the wrong mentality.   They got humbled.

They come into this year with a different one :)

It's pretty significant.  Means we have real coaches on the staff.

And Mitch is also scouting Spurs assistant coaches as well.

They fired their old scouting department and are looking for true assistants.

Madsen and the other guy are Player Development coaches and Madsen works with the big men as well.

if Rambis comes in he'll be defensive coordinator as well as big man coach.

Which would leave space for one more assistant me thinks.

They may come with right mentality .. but they no longer have the personnel. e.g. Funneling the opposition to D12 was an option on defense. That probably will not be as effective with Pau or Kaman now.

Lakers will have better coaching assistants this year. But with a head coach who is a misfit  .. and lack of personnel, I do not think Rambis will be able to help much.

What D'Antoni should do is come to practice every day with a hose and spray anybody not playing defense.

But hiring Rambis should help, also.

Well we'll need to rely on team defense more, thus they would buy into Rambis.

Sometimes having a top heavy lineup and can depend on Kobe's shooting and having a big man like Dwight blocking shots can make you lazy in all other aspects, it was easy to tell that our players played lazy defense and never really got together

The fact that they don't have those things to fall back on means they'll need to buy into those ideals more if they are gonna be successful.

We also have better wing defenders than we had last year eventhough we lost our interior one.

We lost our main interior defender but we upgraded at the wings and that's most important.

Though I will say Kaman is a much better rim defender than Gasol or Sacre as well

Nick Young COULD be, he has all the tools and a 7 foot wing span and he promised to try so we'll see, I expect him to be better than Meeks was.

Wesley Johnson is GOING to try on defense and he already puts forth effort there so I expect him to stay with people a little better than Metta was able to though I don't expect him to rack up as much steals.

Not having Clark's defense does hurt though.   But all and all we got younger around the wing and have a better rim protector than Gasol if we needed that so defensively we're not gonna be spectacular, but if Rambis can instill good TEAM defense we should be "ok"  which is better than last year.

His defense isn't strictly funneling the opposition though.  Rambis's defense also is big on pressuring passing lanes and cutting those off. With athletic players, that will really improve the defense in that area.

I forgot if it was here or in a article I read, but back when Rambis was coach with Phil, there was a steals bet that season between Kobe, Ariza, Odom, and Farmar.

That'd be bordering on Mike Rice Rutgers style treatment, although these are legitimately grown Men in comparison.

And steals lead to...............

fast breaks with Nick Young on one side and Wesley Johnson on the other.

No but we'll get Sacre tomahawk dances at the end of the play from the sideline.

It's taking longer than expected, but source says Rambis return to Lakers is "on track." Just details to work thru

Reminds me of the "Imminent" days.
