Take this with a grain a salt but found this article on Yard Barker

With the latest round of rumors circulating that Dwight Howard doesn’t want to return to the Lakers because of the current head coach, our sources have informed us the Lakers are quietly figuring out a way to end Mike D’antoni’s tenure, and replace him with Phil Jackson. “The Lakers have asked Phil ‘hypothetically’ if the job opens up, would he become available to coach one more time. Phil is basically saying he’s too old for hypotheticals, and they should call him again when the time is right.” said our source.

Why are we acting like Phil can't find uses for stretch 4s?

Just because Space Cadet went snowboarding?   :bounce:

I don't know, I'm sure you were wondering why he's a consultant, why he has a say in personnel and why he's doing a bunch of media and conferences with the team too.

Oh yea I had blocked that Kwame, Smush, Mihm, Walton, Cook roster.

Looking back, I honestly think those were darker times.

People are seriously not thinking.

Phil is the consultant.

Phil wants more power and control of the personnel decisions.

So the Lakers ignore PHIL and draft someone D'Antoni wants instead?  NO!

Ryan Kelly was a Phil Jackson pick all the way.

D'Antoni would have been standing on his head to move up in the draft and nab one of the sweet shooting 3's with elite athleticism.

Phil wants shooters to space the floor around Kobe and Dwight in the triangle...and players with high basketball IQ, passing and experience...

This was a Phil Jackson pick...and it would not surprise me if Phil is on the way back to the Lakers bench as the HEAD coach...not just consultant...

Hmmmmm.................................Maybe the Lakers have already made up their mind that they are going to fire D'Antoni, and they are drafting a player Phil would like.

If Phil Jackson was the current head coach, Kelly would not be receiving the amount of hate he is receiving now   Poor kid.

they just got Mark Madsen who was a Phil Jackson guy, knows the triangle, was an experienced assistant coach at Stanford where the men and womens team run the triangle.

While both Nate and Gentry were ignored....

Who do you think is REALLY in control of these picks and personnel decisions?    ;)

A Duke PF that plays defense, shoots the three that can open the floor for Pay and or Dwight. Worked with tony Kukoc, even though he was an oversize guard. It aloso worked with Robert Horry too

"hypothetical" means

"if Dwight asks for D'antoni to be fired."

Phil would be a huge get to say the least no question about it, but as this team is currently constructed, I'm not even 100% certain he can fully save us. Too many other issues we would still need to address.

What did I say take this with a grain of salt

I know. I saw that. Don't take it personally.
