@KevinDing

The Lakers' plan if Dwight stays? Much different. Pau is all but a goner, most likely via amnesty provision to ...

save more than $60 million in luxury-tax payments. The oft-traveled path of trying to trade Pau remains in play if Dwight stays -- though a scenario that brings back some talent and doesn't cause payroll risks for the future is so far unknown.

Metta, not Pau, gets to stay for the final season on his Lakers' contract. Earl Clark remains a candidate to return because Pau's power-forward spot would be open (though Metta playing more PF makes sense to me).

wow.... is his trade value THAT low? :yikes:

Amnestying Pau over Metta would save them much more money.  But WOW...

Whereas if Dwight leaves, Metta would be the one amnestied

Here is the Lakers' plan if Dwight leaves: Keep Pau for final year of his deal. Use amnesty provision to ...

cut Metta and save $30 million in luxury-tax payments. Re-sign Earl Clark if reasonable, sign someone else on the cheap and/or plug in Meeks or Blake to the starting lineup that will have two vacancies without Dwight and Metta but still Pau. Jordan Hill is the only other frontcourt player under contract right now.

Wow so whether Pau is the one amnestied or Metta is the one amnestied also rests on whether Dwight returns ...

Seems if Dwight stays they amnesty Pau.  if Dwight goes they amnesty Metta.

But someone is going.

They would trade Pau. His trade value isn't that low, come on.

Even if its low draft picks you get something for Pau. If you amnesty anyone it's Metta.

That amnesty can only be used on Metta, Pau regardless of how hard he is bashed no one can deny how he was severely impaired by MDA last season. I think he deserves to be moved to where he is gonna be given a chance to play and be productive. He should still maintain plenty of value to certain teams.

That is true to some extent, but could you explain to us then though how he was so severely impaired the previous several seasons, particularly in the playoffs without MDA? What were the reasons dare I say excuses then?

yo.

The previous season , the last with Phil he was very productive, Phil would play him rotating around the post and drift out occasionally under the triangle. As a whole the team in the 2011 playoffs were just outplayed by the Mavs. Pau has never been dominant or 'tough', but he is skilled, and I just think little by little he is wearing down. But MDA flat out didn't try to concede some plays or style change for him.

I do agree Pau's best year's are behind him, but not having your coach support you, that just it.

By how quickly they ruled out using the amnesty on Kobe, I ultimately think end up keeping Pau if they can't trade him. That's just my guess though.

The future of this team depends on KOBE ego.

He needs to take a paycut, its crazy he going to be paid 30million coming back from a torn achilles.

Considering he carried the team surrounded by so much ineptitude to the playoffs. Received a very serious injury and still wants to return badly, he isn't satisfied with what he has done and wants more.

I can agree his contract somewhat hampers the organization, but as long as Kobe wants to win and is hungry I am okay.

He can't take a paycut next season, he can sign the following year for less.  I have seen this day coming for years, too many bad contracts and now they are going to have to take the pain.  They need a complete purge of these contracts, which they can do by letting Dwight walk and/or signing him and not trying to foolishly put together a "championship" squad next season and take on more long term contracts through trades.

I can understand using the amnesty on Metta, but Pau is still a skilled big man that can impact the game. At the very least, get a draft pick or two and/or a role player. Amnesty him and watch him go to Atlanta, Dallas, ANY of the teams that have cap space, and a monster will have been created.

On the other hand, it's a shame that one player can affect the future of so many players and organizations. If Dwight really does leave, then my supporting him will feel really [expletive]ty to be honest. I have a lot of bad things to say about him, but a lot of good ones too if he does stay.

I think they amnesty Pau if they can't get picks or anything for the guy.

Seems to me they don't want to go through another year with him and if his value is so low they can't get any kind of trade if Dwight stays he likely goes I'm guessing

You misunderstood Majesty.

I'm saying that you trade a guy like Pau for something. You amnesty Ron as his value has bottomed out.
