The Lakers picked up the option year on Jodie Meeks' contract today.

Wonder who he'll be traded for.

Either way im not fussed they picked him up. He can either be used in a trade or is a cheap SG backup if we keep him. Would prefer another backup for Kobe, but with the MMLE or VM to offer free agents I realise options are limited.

watchout now!

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

Yuck. Yuck yuck. Bet this boy 5k on twitter I can beat him in a 3 point contest He all of a sudden forgot how to shoot. I'd much rather have Shannon back or martell Webster. Oh well

^ That sucks. I thought he already showed more than Meeks ever showed in his complete game or offensive arsenal in just those brief few playoff games.

Kinda shocked & kinda not.

He is a cheap option to have and with limited resources, we need to fill out the bench.  Just hope he improves his decision making.  He should know he is a shooter and nothing else.  His worst games came when he thought he was a player who can get to the rim or when he attempted to be a playmaker.

I'm not truly surprised but this is a very good "just in case" move by the Lakers.

Because there's no guarantee that they'd sign an Ellis or a Mayo etc in the off-season for our 2 position.  Especially if Dwight didn't return.

I don't think the ball gets rolling till Dwight re-signs then we'll see what other moves are going to transpire.   Rest assured if we signed a viable 2 after Dwight re-signed Meeks won't be here past the trade deadline.

At the same time, with the question mark over Kobe, having two 2 guards on the team could be vital early on in the season just in case one of them isn't Kobe.

So I get this move completely.

Ahh young Jodie Meeks being brought back for his 2nd season with the beloved Lakeshow.

I hope that for everyone's sake he realizes that this is an 82 game season and contrary to what he seems to have believed this past season, you can not take games off.

Since he will be returning I would also like to take the time to announce that he will now be known as Jodie Streaks, until he can string together a 10 game run of consistent basketball.
