Minny has a love affair with Pau. Send them Pau and send K Love to Boston, give us Rondo. No one complains :|

You know that's not a bad idea honestly as Boston is about to lose Garnett they could use someone like Love.

It would make more sense if the Clippers gave Bledsoe to the Celtics so they'd have a going forward though.

Unless the Celtics want Avery Bradley as their future.

If K Love was somehow miraculously in the mix I'd rather take Love than Rondo...

Lakers need more defensive guards. Rondo would be a priority.

Unlikely now that Doc is supposedly shipped off to Clips. But I am a fan of Rondo regardless of all the scrutiny.

Still I wonder though since now they'd be hiring an 'temp' coach while they rebuild, if they are tempted to completely start from scratch. Bradley came along pretty good last year, gets some good return on players like Rondo, Terry and so on. Tanking would give them edge on Wiggins sweepstakes.

Honestly if I were the Celtics and now basically with Doc out and a possible complete rebuild.  I would try my best to get young talent by first dealing Pierce for the 2 2nd Round picks from the Cavs to take off 16 mil.  Trade Garnet  and dispose the bad contract of Bass and Terry for Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, DeAndre Jordan and Bledsoe.  Bledsoe and a young team could be good building block for the future.

Then trade the ugly contracts of Courtney Lee and others in a package around Rondo for Gasol's expiring contract.

However, this would be a blockbuster with Garnet retiring where he started.

It looks like Boston is going into rebuilding mode. They could take PAU'S expiring contract and we'll take rondo and a bad contract or two.

I read about that Pierce for 2 second round picks, usually I don't buy into the whole disrespect thing when players are shipped off under bad circumstances. But to send one of your franchise all time great players to a rebuilding team for some picks, that is actually pretty bad.

I dont think the lakers want to sacrifice the 2014 free agent class. This is what would really happen by taking on rondo and another contract. If Rondo was not coming off a tear ACL it would seem more likely, but even then it would be unlikely. We all know the Lakers love to go after those free agents and draw them into LA, and they see that the year 2014 is the time to do that.

The 2014 class has been overrated for a while now. Once we cross off those 22-26 year old RFA's the pickings are slimmed down to veteran players on the wrong side of the age 30. THOSE are the only players we would realistically have a shot at since they're URFA's. I don't feel like shelling out a max deal to a 30 something year old star player not named Lebron just so we can watch his play deteriorate like we have seen time and time again around the league. If you can get a top 3 PG in Rondo and a 27 year old perimeter player like Lee (who will be 30-31 when his $5.5 million salary is up) for Pau, you do it.

I like Rondo's competitiveness but not sure how good he actually is.  Pros: Definitely a gamer/hard player, can run an offense somewhat (see cons), great defensive PG

Cons: Poor shooter all around, not sure how he stacks up with other PG's that have flourished with less talent.  Celtics have been in the bottom 10 in offensive efficiency for the past 3 seasons.  A lot of this stems from the fact that teams dont guard Rondo or take him seriously on offense as a threat.

Out of curiosity can Stern CP3 this coach trade to the Clips?

^ I'm sure if he really wanted to he could. He can do just about whatever he damn well pleases. He can conveniently create some kind of BS justification reason & do it.

Well we aren't getting Lebron and I'd take rondo over anyone else in the 2014 or 2015 class

Well I may be forgetting someone but as of right now I'd rather have rondo while his value is low with the injury

Haven't you noticed? There's no concrete sources anywhere in this thread giving merit to this idea. Sure, there's been some in the past, but long ago & not anything recently. This is all just pure speculation from fans. Just offseason fun for now I suppose.
