Sources: Clippers initiated talks about financial parameters of a contract w/Byron Scott Friday night. Did not do so w/L Hollins & B Shaw.

Probably a Plan B that Clippers are banking on that this satisfy CP3.  CP3 and Byron Scott did have a good not great but a good relationship in New Orleans.  Clippers banking Byron Scott can bring CP3 back.

I thought CP3 hated him when they were both in NO?

Chris Paul was furious when New Orleans even fired the man

I feel bad for Shaw if he doesn't get this job.

@BA_Turner 46m
Clippers actually talked contract with Byron Scott after meeting with Sterling Tuesday night; Clips also talked contract with BShaw also

@BA_Turner 45m
BShaw talked contract after his meeting Wednesday with Sterling sources.

@BA_Turner 43m
But in case of BScott, sources said they are "getting there, but still talking" with Clippers. No deal yet though.

If they get Byron Scott, the rest of the league better be scared. They'll be instant championship contenders no question about it.

I would feel bad for Scott if he took the Clippers job and Chris Paul bolted.

Don't forget that he took the job with Cleveland, then LeBron left.

That would suck, especially when  Paul reportedly unhappy with the Doc situation

That would be the ultimate jerk move on Chris' part. Highly doubt something like that would take place again.

This is a Chris Paul move.

Not taking anything away from Scott, he's an above average coach who's been to the Finals 2 years in a row only to lose to 2 dynasties. He's been dealt a bad hand in Cleveland.

Paul and Scott have a strong relationship, best coach out there if the Clippers have any interest in maintaining Paul's services next season.

I don't think it would be a jerk move by any means.

I said when this all started that Chris Paul will ultimately go to a team that he feels has the best shot to make him a champion.   If he thinks that's the Clippers, that's where he'll stay.  If it's not, he'll go elsewhere.

If Chris somehow spoke with Scott & looked him in the face before him taking the job & somewhat assured him that he would be staying and then left after he took the job, how would that not be a jerk move?

I still think by the way Lionel Hollins is the best candidate out of the three. I think you could make the case he's the strongest of the three in emphasizing defense & toughness first, which is arguably what the Clippers need most.

I agree, still baffles me that he got fired after a WCF appearance,  first time in franchise history

That's a completely different scenario.

In that case, then yes it's a jerk move on Chris Paul's part.

^ Gotcha'. Thanks for the clarification. I had assumed that's what you initially insinuated with your first post.

If he waited for another year, he probably be the head coach of the Lakers right now. I remembered he really wanted the Lakers coaching job if ever Phil retired from coaching the NBA. Unfortunately, Phil Jackson came back one more year and Scott took the Cleveland coaching position.

It would be funny if they just rehired Vinny because they were too cheap.

Does that team exist though? The only maybe is if he goes to Houston and Houston somehow gets a decent PF for Jeremy Lin

Asik
Decent PF
Parsons
Harden
Paul

Then maybe. But again it depends who that PF is, but even that is a questionable contender

Hed be better off in LA.
