It's football...not golf.

Basketball has injuries (Kobe tore his achilles, basketball players get torn ACLs, concussions, and etc as well)

Don't follow hockey but I think those are some big guys flying around on ice...on blades...so yeh.

Verlander fastball to the noggin...

Boxing...guys paid to punch each other.

MMA.........yeh

Boxing & MMA aren't exactly team sports as far as once you're actually in the ring and competing.

I like football, but all I'm sayin' is a lot of people are gonna' have their hearts broken as the game continues to get softer and softer and potentially so severe it might almost not even be recognized as hardcore of a sport as it once was. People love the hits & violence of the game, but at the same time, most of those same people can't help but feel scared & concerned about all the many overwhelming repercussions the hits have later in life.

I'm not sure just how bad it's gonna' get and when, but nothing would surprise me.

I'm pretty sure every kid who decides to strap up the pads and helmets understand the dangers of the sport. It's not like nobody has not warned them of the impending dangers. Football will always be thee option for kids from lower income homes because of the relative ease of the game and the potential for scholarships.

I don't think this is accurate. Kids gravitate towards what they like...PERIOD. Now, the parents will normally push their kids towards what they want for their children and what's accessible. I played virtually everything as a kid and I didn't find baseball nor basketball anymore difficult than the game of football.

The calls are getting softer but the players are still pretty physical. With so much national exposure on the issue of concussions and the lawsuits, the NFL really has no choice but to make some changes for the sake of player safety.

Like I said, there are inherent dangers in other TEAM sports as well.

I played everything too and I found far more success with football. I wasn't very coordinated.

To me, it's just an easier sport to grasp and play. A lot of my peers would agree. It requires so many different types of athletes and skillets, oppose to basketball where it requires you to be freakishly tall, coordinated, and athletic.

“We have a lot of time off and we have a lot of great seniors,” quarterback AJ McCarron said. “We’ll be ready to play. We are hungry. I mean, one loss — we hate it, but the sun comes up tomorrow. The world isn’t ending. We’ll be ready to play.”

There's just a lot to be grateful for when you've won three out of the last four national championships. That doesn't happen in college football. And we still get to play in a BCS bowl.

Recruiting classes are still top or (very near top) ranked, we'll lose both AJ and CJ to the NFL but again...recruiting makes those losses sting a bit less.

Even as an Alabama fan, you can't really feel 100% certain he's gonna stay. Given his history, it's understandable why some people would doubt Nick Saban's word when it comes to staying or going.

Logically, I don't see any reason for him to go to Texas.

- Saban is the highest paid college coach if I'm not mistaken (he gets paid more than a lot of NFL coaches) and if he's not...he can get virtually whatever he wants from Alabama. This "buzz" could help his agent negotiate more money...more incentives...etc etc etc.

- He can get top high school recruits to come to Alabama.

- What's to gain by going to another college program? Alabama is now the standard in all of college football.

- He says he's too old to start over someplace else...so we'll see if he stays true to his word.

I just needed a team. My childhood team was the Redskins but once I got older, I begin to like the Bucs...probably in '97 or '99. Gotta stick by 'em. We do have that lone SB win.
