T-Mac as an elite player is a little generous in my opinion. He had one season where he averaged over 30 ppg, in which that season  I believe the whole "moving on to the second round" came from, so he failed to deliver which is something all 'great' players should be judged on. After that his numbers steadily declined, and so did his games played and minutes. McGrady wasn't a great defender, he made the attempt but certainly nothing special after becoming a focal point in a franchise after Toronto.

There's no doubt that Pau Gasol is Hall of Famer. I'd rank him #3 behind Dirk and Parker on the best Euro NBA players of all time. I'd say that Gasol is the best all around skilled Euro to play in the NBA, you just don't find 7 footers that can do what he has done very often.

Dude, I don't have to.

You know damn well what Hall Of Fame stats and career are and aren't.

Your mind is made up, no matter what stats are thrown in your face (which they have been time and time again) you will recoil against anything positive to say about Pau Gasol.  Your game has gotten old with this.  I'm not falling for the silly gambit you play with everyone else about Pau.

You don't like him - we get it - move the hell on already.

You DO have to...particularly since you've stated some pretty over-the-top statements like:

He was mediocre in his prime.

To which PhillyLaker showed otherwise:

32/7/6 on 46%

27/8/5 on 46%

28/8/5 on 46%

28/6/6 on 42%

What we KNOW is that Pau Gasol doesn't have anything even remotely similar to the numbers Tracy McGrady produced.

You speak as if Pau Gasol is a lock for the HOF...why??? Because he's a Laker? Because he piggy-backed his way to two championships? You call Pau Gasol HOF but Tracy McGrady "Hall of Decent"?  :eh:

All I see are a bunch of gross superlatives:

Gasol is an international legend

That's too bad his legendary status hasn't translated to the NBA

Throw some stats in my face...PLEASE...will someone PLEASE throw some stats in my face! Oh and for the sake of your arguments, don't use his stats from the last few seasons.

Tracy McGrady had way more impact at his peak than Pau Gasol and I don't even see how it's even debatable.

McGrady's numbers weren't that high, last I checked he had the 32 ppg season, then kept tapering off each season in Houston, in alot of seasons he barely hovered around 25ppg (if at that). This isn't a discussion (or argument) stating that Gasol is a true HOF, while T-Mac was 'decent'. But sometimes nostalgia clouds people's memories, and alot of people who praised T-Mac back in the day were also Kobe dislikers, so can't get that mixed up with saying he was in that Kobe tier.

If anything it is because you are so bent on praising T-Mac for more than he actually was, it sheds light on how much more consistent Gasol has been up until last year. Plus as a Laker fan I am surprised you're gonna throw out the 'piggy back to a championship' comment, that is usually reserved for people that dislike giving credit where credit is due....such as Kobe with Shaq.

Weren't that high...compared to whom???

I'm supposed to cringe at Tmac's postseason failures but ignore Pau's?

When has Pau Gasol ever been close to 30 PPG? He only hit 20 PPG twice in 13 seasons. McGrady hit 20+ PPG for 8 straight seasons.

I think homer-ism is clouding people's minds...a habitual thing for Lakers fans.

He did piggy-back. Remind me again how many championships he won in Memphis? McGrady landed where he landed and Gasol landed with the greatest franchise in sports history to play alongside a top five/top ten player of all time.

Pau before he played with Kobe( the greatest of his era)

18/8.5 with not a playoff win

T-Mac before his back injury-26,6,6 on 48%

T-Mac put up GREAt numberers for like 6 years

BTW, so did Vince Carter, a guy who put up 50 in the playoffs

T_mac never got to play with a sure fire legend, and when he played with Yao, injuries took over for both.

Pau had no seasons in the playoffs where he averaged 20 on 50%

To me this is a racial issue. Blacks have to be SUPER and thats why you see Iverson,Vince, and T-Mac get questioned about their careers.

Don't go there.

Why? it's true.

The  whole " T-Mac is a loser" thing around some NBA circles( not in the barbershops or playgrounds) is a result of the standard they have for black men.

Look at Dirk and Steve's MVPs. Give me a BREAK

I dont really even care, because I cant stop it, but its the truth

When you see the double standard for blacks and whites, it's obvious.

Iverson was a "thug", because he wore a du-rag and baggy clothes.

T-Mac did get out the 1st round and he's a loser, but somehow Gasol gets swept in all his playoff series pre-Kobe, but KOBE was lucky to get Pau is how it's portrayed.

Nash has two MVPs, bc the SPORTSWRITERS are mostly white, and seeing someone who looks like them made them more likely to vote for him.

Wtf are you even talking about......literally has nothing do with race.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time you try to bring race into a discussion and everytime there is no evidence or reason for it.

Its annoying
