Don't feel bad for him in the slightest.

Confused as to why any of you are so damn attached to a player of such mediocrity and overblown ego.

I wouldn't say he was mediocre in his prime.  Unless you're talking about currently.

In his prime he was a VERY good and one of the top players in the league and injuries derailed his career.

But if we're talking currently, I understand.

He was mediocre in his prime.

I have no idea why so many of you like the guy so much.  He's ado-nothing player that fizzled when things got tough for him and failed to ever really improve his game at any point after being drafted.  He's a run of the mill player.

I am serious.

The guy was never this amazing player so many of you think he was.  I think some of you may have been younger when he came into the league and didn't really see his game in its entirety.  Dunking is not a complete game.

Debating the merits of a one-faceted player is a losing battle.

Laugh all you want.

You guys are looking at it through the fog of time.  Time and distance makes everything look better than it actually was.

McGrady is not the player you think he is or was.

Tell me this though, how can a seven-time NBA all-star be considered "mediocre"?

Like I said, believe what you want to believe, that's fine with me.

The All-Star game is not a good gauge of a player.  It';s voted on by the fans, who for the most part, are complete morons.  (Alonzo Mourning getting voted into the All-Star game once when he didn't play one game, for one example).

You can't gauge a player by MVP's and All-Star appearances.  Those are subjective gauges that hold no bearing.  The media tells you they are valid gauges because one of them they vote on and the other they make a ton of money off of.

On a brighter note, at least Mr. McGrady got passed the second round.

Oh I feel real bad for him

He just got paid like $10K/game through the playoffs to sit there.

I can tell you he was a really nice guy when I met him. Played NBA Live 2000 and had a couple heinekens with him at his old house in Orlando. I remember he had a giant Vince Carter poster on his wall. I asked why and he told me they were cousins. I didnt know that before he told me. Anyways, the dude was a NBA Superstar. No need to diss his prior skills. He had some great moments and will forever have back to back scoring titles at 32.1 and 28ppg.

He was pretty awesome on the Magic.

In his prime T-Mac was a top 3-5 player in the game & at one point, neck & neck with Kobe. The guy lead the league in scoring & I believe he had much more to offer had he not gotten hurt.

I feel bad that he got hurt, not that he missed out on sneaking off with a ring that he didn't work for.
