Carl Landry's brother

Keith Kreiter @Edge_Sports

Marcus Landry to join the Lakers summer league team- great opportunity for Marcus-- he spent time with D'Antoni in New York.

For those that don't know who he is, he didn't get much playing time in the league as he was sent down to the d-league where he averaged 16.5 points and shot 42.8 % from three point land.    Was a D-league all-star and also won the three point shooting contest

Landry has gone through training camps with the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns. He was an NBA Development League All-Star this past season with the Reno Bighorns -- where he won the three-point contest.

Through 35 games with the Bighorns, Landry averaged 16.5 points a game while shooting 42.8% from three-point range.

One of the Lakers' off-season goals is to add shooting and athleticism.

Not expecting TOO much, but he's a 6'7 athletic forward that can shoot threes in 97 D-league games he's maintained at least a 40% three point percentage.   It's not too hard to grasp why the Lakers got this guy for their summer league team.

I wish him the best and will be watching to see what he does in the summer league.

If he doesn't make it on the Lakers, Madsen will be coaching him on our D-league team.

Wish him the absolute best.

A one dimensional 3 point shooter? D'antoni is creaming himself already  :smh:

Can we not turn this into another "I don't like D'antoni" thread please?

Though I agree, that's the reason we're going after him.

Then again a 3 point shooting forward fits Dwight as well.  But that's assuming he'd make the team, and I'm not.

Sorry, too easy.

Oh well, let's see what he can contribute...I'm just afraid this team is gonna turn into a terrible amalgamation of the best of the D-fenders and the 2006 Phoenix Suns.

Funny you should say that as Landry was both a Knick and a Sun

I will say though that his last year in the D-league was his best and he seemed on the verge of a well-deserved call up.  But he injured his knee and that was the end of that sadly.

That's why I wish him the best and hope he does well.

This is one area where the Lakers really suck, big-time. Drafting in the top 15 and trading they are good at, but developing talent from scratch, not so much.

Danny Green was in the D-League a few years back and is having a lot of succes.

Not to make a rant, but the more i think about it, the more i dislike the player development of the Lakers.

Check these late-draft steals the Spurs have found in recent years.

2009 DeJuan Blair 37th, Nando de Colo 53rd

2008 Geoge hill 26th, Goran Dragic 45th

2007 Tiago Splitter 28th

2005 Ian Mahinmi 28th

2004 Beno Udrih 28th

2003 Leandro Barbosa 28th

2002 John Salmons 26th, Luis Scola 55th

2001 Tony Parker 28th

1999 Manu Ginobilli 57th

The Lakers:

2009 Toney Douglas 29th, Patrick Beverly 42nd

2007 Marc Gasol 48th

2005 Ronny Turiaf 37th

2004 Sasha Vujacic 27th

2003 Luke Walton 32nd

Lakers have won 5 Championships in that time span.  The Spurs have won 1.    I'll take sucky draft picks and 5 championships over marvelous steals and 1.

Patrick Beverly to me seems okay he had a few good games against OKC and Marc Gasol was our steal but we traded him for 2 championship rings
