Sign and trade with the Bucks.
Pau Gasol and Chris Duhon for Ellis and Illyasova.

Illyasova is a spread 4 who is an up and coming player and will actually be a good fit in MDA's offense.
This deal would be a pipedream.

Nash, Ellis, Kobe, Illyasova, Howard.

Sanders > Illyasova

Trade for Austin Rivers, say, Hill & Johnson.

Maybe 5 years ago...

Sorry, but Pau far and away better then Illyansova, who is one of my favorite underrated players...

But Pau is a REALLY GOOD PLAYER!!!!

he has 3 triple doubles in his last 8 games or something?

Depends how much money you want.

But I heard months ago rumblings that the Lakers would be after Monta.

Honestly having the guy until Kobe comes back would be fine in my opinion and it would take some pressure off Kobe's shoulders to have to come back too soon.

And not only that but if Monta came here it would mean he'd be willing to be our 6th man off the bench because obviously he isn't gonna start once Kobe gets back.

Would I take Monta over Meeks if he was willing to come at that price?  You're darn right I would, and I don't know anyone that wouldn't.

A sign and trade is not the ONLY way we could get Ellis.

But it would probably be the most likely unless Monta signed the mMLE.

I'm guessing it would be a package deal.

Something like Duhon and Metta for Monta or something like that.

Because I can't see us giving up Pau for Monta.

ESPN reported that Howard might want to play with Ellis if he’s unable to join forces with Chris Paul. There have been rumors that Howard and Paul have had discussions of playing together, but that scenario would likely have to take place in Atlanta. The Hawks can sign two top free agents, but neither Howard nor Paul has much reported interest in going there.

Elllis off the bench may be a good option. But dont think we can afford him.

Best place for Ellis may be NY. With Anothony and J.R Smith he will fit right in

Wouldn't mind Ellis but i'll first look at OJ Mayo. Didn't know Howard was close friends with Ellis tho

The lakers need Monta Ellis to opt-in his contract to have a possible sign and trade. Its impossible if he opts out.

If Ellis wants A LOT of money, then pass.  No reason to sacrifice financial flexibility for a player like him.

Then again, D'Antoni is the coach so....

Ellis, who originally signed a six-year, $66 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, is close with Lakers free agent Dwight Howard. The two have long desired to play together.

As with Paul, Ellis could always sign for the mini-MLE for one season, which will be worth around $3.2 million this summer, and then re-sign for more in the 2014 off-season. But also as with Paul, Ellis would never take such a pay cut even if it’s only for one year.

If Ellis and the Lakers had real interest in teaming up, the best thing for Ellis to do would be to not opt-out of the final year of his contract. That way, the Lakers would be able to pull off a trade with the Bucks – if both sides were interested, of course – and Ellis would still get his $11 million.

If Dwight Howard does indeed want to play with Ellis, it’ll be interesting to see if he asks Lakers management to pursue the scorer this off-season.

So if Monta is someone Dwight REALLY wants to play with, what do the Lakers do?  I can't see anything other than Monta coming here for less money.   We aren't amnestying Kobe and we're not trading Pau to get Ellis in a Sign and Trade..

I'm pretty sure getting Ellis would be a nice precursor for Dwight, here is the problem.  If Dwight re-signs with the team then the ONLY way they can get Monta is if he takes the mMLE.

So if they were gonna S&T for Ellis it would have to be before July 1st or before Dwight re-signed.
