"He's too nice," O'Neal said Tuesday on "The Max and Marcellus Show" on ESPNLA 710. "I'm a connoisseur of giggling and playing and all that and making you laugh and playing with the fans, but when I cross that line, I'm ready to tear your face off. I don't care who it is. You could put one of my aunts or uncles out there, and I'm going to give him these elbows in their chest and I'm going to throw it down in their face. That's what you have to do. ... He's just too nice. If I was him, I would get into the same mood I was in."

I agree except for the part where he says he gets single covered which he doesn't most of the time he does get doubled

It sounds like he wants him to focus and get more assertive, more or less.

Shaq: It's my duty to help this man become one of the best big man in the league

"I think it's my duty to help this young man become one of the best big men in the league," O'Neal said. "I'm from the old school. I'm not doing it nicely. I'm pushing buttons, I'm talking about you and I'm doing it like this. ... I think it's my job as a former big man to get him to play up to par.

"When I was in L.A., Kareem and Wilt never spoke to me. They never said two things to me. I took that as a, 'OK, you all don't think I'm as good as you yet. Well, watch this.' That's what it was -- motivation. Everything I say should be taken as motivation. He's the best big man in the league, and it's my job to make sure he plays that way. Period."

O'Neal said Howard never has reached out to him for advice and he doesn't want him to.

"I don't want him to reach out to me," O'Neal said. "I want him to get into the 'Forget Shaq' mode and [say], 'Watch this.' He doesn't even have to reach out to me."

Wilt used to talk about Shaq's defense, rebounding and lack of consistency to block shots.  Things Wilt was great at.

Shaq talks about Dwight's offense and dominance.  Something Shaq was great at.

It makes perfect sense honestly.

I disagree with him on Dwight not being double teamed so often.  He is.

Sure he'd respond better if he sealed his men off more consistently to receive a pass if we're talking post scoring.

But defenses FEAR him.    it's very apparent.

When is Shaq and fans going to realize they are 2 different players.  As long as Dwight plays elite D and improves his inside game some he will continue to make a team competitive.  Everyone knows he's a sensitive clown.  He still gives this team the best chance to win next year and be the cornerstone for a rebuild.  Whether or not he actually becomes a champ like player doesnt matter.  Resigning him gives LA a great asset to trade if need be.

Wilt put down Kareem constatnly when he first arrived as Alcindor, alot of interviews have Kareem saying he truly felt bad because he grew up as a fan of Wilt but also drove him to prove his true skills.

As well lot of interviews state that the short span that Baylor and Wilt were teammates, Elgin constatnly tried to out do the newly arrived Wilt.

As well I remmeber seeing some kind of Shaq documentary a long time ago where kinda slided his exxcitement of past Lakers and him meeting Johnson, while clearly stating that meeting Kareem was icy at best and hardly ever communicated afterwards.

The moral is Laker centers literally and metaphorically have big shoes to fill, no love amongst the great, just go out here play and prove your greatness, not cower under it. Thats why while I dont bash D12, we all know the criticism certain players get like obviously Kobe, Duncan for being boring and appear lackadaisical  and so on.  I mean come on look at the intensity players like MJ and Bird played, even teammates feared them and respected them. D12 is just a really good center in today's center depleted era.
