Well since EA is involved... I have to avoid...

The first couple BattleFront games were great, some of the best Star Wars games made ever...

But EA games is terrible...

And I refuse to BUY anymore EA games

Its for next gen consoles.  Can't afford the $500 for an inferior system, won't ever play it.

I guess he meant the publisher being EA.

Beyond the anticipated release date and the news it will now be part of the official canon, not much else is known about Star Wars: Battlefront 3. EA's games label exec Patrick Soderlund talked to Polygon about the progress of the game last summer after the E3 reveal. There was little in the way of details, but Soderlund emphasized DICE's commitment to doing right by fans.

"The most important thing for me is that we take the Star Wars license and come up with games where peoples' jaws drop," he said. "We need to do with this what [Batman: Arkham Asylum] did for the Batman license. It's going to take awhile. We just announced the license and showed a sneak peek of Hoth. The speeder and the AT-AT will be in [the game] for sure. We didn't toss anything out."

"People don't want another Battlefield with Star Wars graphics; they want a Star Wars game that is proper," Battlefield 4's executive producer Patrick Bach told Videogamer.

For example, EA has confirmed that a third-person mode will be part of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 in order to make it more consistent with the other titles in the series. And the reboot won't receive the annualized treatment that many feel have stifled the FPS genre. In fact, EA's Frank Gibeau told CVG that the new plan for EA is to rotate between Titanfall, Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield games every year.

I wonder what kind of innovations in gameplay this version of Battlefront will present us with.

I think it's safe to assume that the physics, controls & graphics of the game will all be top notch since it's coming out on the newest generation of systems and being developed by Dice. But what else can they do that will make it stand out from the previous versions?

Battlefront 2 was amazing IMO because it took the greatness of the first game to a whole different level simply from the replay-ability of the game. The story mode was amazing, being able to conquer the galaxy "Risk" style by strategically mixing planet attacks & space battles, and being able to do it in 4 different ways (Good vs. Evil in both the Original & Prequel Trilogy settings). Not to mention the excellent Heroes vs. Villains mode which was simply, pick your side and duke it out. Han Solo vs. The Emperor...Luke Skywalker vs. Anakin Skywalker...Yoda vs. Darth Vader...

I can't even fathom how many hours me and one of my college roommates spent playing this game, battling it out as Jedi vs. Sith or simply splitting up the duties in space battles (he loved to be the bomber taking out strategic ship points, I loved to be the X-Wing or Tie Fighter dog fighting). We must have beat the story mode in all 4 playable versions several times each. Fantastic game to say the least...

What say you Dice & EA??

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT: STUNNING ENDOR CONCEPT ART REVEALED

ignfinalv1jpg-c41deb_610w.jpg

“The scale of our maps and modes offer a great variety” depending on the location, Fegraeus explained. Hoth, where the Rebel Alliance fought off invading AT-ATs in snowy plains, will differ in size than the dense woodland of Endor.

“We have actually made the decision to specifically tailor certain maps to certain game modes,” Fegraeus continued, “and what we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies.”

“Perhaps the hardest part about bringing the franchise back is managing expectations,” said Fegraeus. “Star Wars fans, including ourselves, are incredibly passionate about the universe. Each of us have our own personal favorites. However, with the talent we have here at DICE, the Frostbite technology at our fingertips, and the fantastic working relationship we have with Lucas, I believe we will deliver a Star Wars experience that excites fans around the world and gives them the chance to play out battles in some of the most iconic locales in the series history."
