“When you talk to the Lakers, when you talk to the Celtics, when you talk to – well, those two in particular – the guy on the other end of the phone has his fingers crossed,” Erving said. “So whatever he’s telling you, he’s not telling you the truth. He’s working a deal for him. And what happened to us last year with getting damaged goods hopefully will only happen once...

I agree with him 100%.

Bunch of liars the Lakers front office are.  Hiding all those knee injuries over the years.

Yep. The Lakers were the the only team that knew about Bynum's health problems. No one else knew. It was a secret.

Does he know that all trades are not final until all teams conduct a physical?

This is just an excuse by someone who made the wrong decision.

When healthy, Bynum is a premier Center but still one of the lowest IQ human beings to walk on this earth.

Suckers! buwahahaha!

be seriously, his injury is just part of the issue. Lakers knew what kind of personality this guy is. If you want to pick a player in the NBA who doesn't really love the game but only doing it because its easy money, this guy is the guy. Such a waste too because I do agree he has the potential to be one of the greatest centers with all his natural skills. Just his mentality will bring him down.

LOL!!! Blaming others for your own FOs mistake. Pretty sure most people know of Bynums knee problems so you would think a FO would. Frankly you deserve to get screwed if you know a player has a history of knee injuries and you trade for him. No matter what another FO tells you about their guy, you know the facts. Also as Gotrings mentioned they have the right to conduct a physical before the trade is finalized. So sorry to say Dr J but Philly rolled the dice and crapped out lol. Heck we rolled the dice with Dwight. We didn't know for sure whether he would play half the season let alone the whole season. We knew he probably wouldn't be the pre injury Dwight which proved right. We knew
he would be the star free agent this off season. We took risks in this trade as well. So sorry Philly and Dr J but it's called Tough Luck!!! We had some as well with a Season from Hell.

If he really believes they were "tricked" then that speaks volumes to the incompetence of an NBA front office.

How dumb do you have to be to get "tricked" in the NBA?

I think the Lakers were tricked into getting Mike D Antoni because there is no way a smart person can look at the Lakers roster and think it should be a 3 point shooting and fast break team.  Has to be a trick.

Teams are able to look at medical records and can give players physicals before accepting trades.  Either something horrible happened after he was traded, or the Sixers didn't do their due diligence.

My guess is that Bynum didn't take proper care of his injury after he was traded. The Sixers knew of the risk of his knees physically, but didn't take into account that he doesn't take care of himself properly during injuries.

I deeply respect Dr. J but in this case he is just basing this on his rooted interests. No trads clear without physicals from the respective teams. The 76ers staff took a good look at Bynum and they ok'ed his health. Besides everyone knew he was injury prone, it wasn't a secret, it was more of just when he was healthy he would play like a top 5 center. The 76ers rolled the dice knowing the risks, and they lost.

Now I can agree with the Lakers probably overestimating his value and coercing the 76ers into a dubious deal, but these are grown professionals, unltimately no one is forced to do anything.

They chose to take him knowing what the risks were. Lol.

That's on Philly.

First off, how the hell would he know what the Lakers are telling the front office of other teams over the phone? He's never done any managing. And secondly, of course our front office is trying to get the better end of the deal. If your teams' management isn't trying to get the better end of the deal, your team probably sucks.
