Jerry Colangelo told Yahoo! Sports he has moved on from the past and is looking toward the future in inviting Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins to USA Basketball's minicamp in late July.

The USA Basketball chairman said Cousins had "some growing up to do" when he was a member of a select team practicing against USA Basketball's Olympic team last summer. Cousins took offense to those comments and asked Colangelo about them. After much debate among USA Basketball executives, a source said, Cousins, 22, was extended an invite to take part in the minicamp with a chance to land a spot on Team USA.

Personally I do not like this. Guy is a punk and not fit to represent USA. I'd rather have a guy like Hibbert but I guess Cousins cursing at refs and belittling his team isn't as bad as saying "No homo"

I think talent trumps everything when it comes to finding the next generation of Olympic Team players. By 2016, he'll probably have matured more, especially since the new ownership is putting a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Agreed. He does not deserve this. Talent shouldn't trump everything, not when you're representing our country. This guy is as bad as they come as far as immaturity & attitude.

yo.

Doesn't deserve to be on the team, at all. We don't want guys like Cousins representing us out there. Horrible attitude, terrible body language, and he's just way too immature. I hate guys like that who are too stupid to make the most of their talent. Such a waste.

Doesn't deserve it.

This guy is incapable of representing the Sacramento Kings with class, but we want him to represent our country?

Ok...

Good for him.

This is an opportunity for him to be around veterans that will provide him some guidance.  If he's doesn't listen, he won't make the team.

Cousins is still young.  He was composed most of the time at Kentucky, playing under Calipari, but has been in a terrible situation in Sacramento.

Sure, he's immature, but he has the capacity to improve with the proper tutelage.

Charles Barkley did some terrrible things in the league AND while playing for Team USA.   Perhaps he could be a good mentor for DeMarcus.  Everyone seems to love Chuck now.

Is the anger management facility near the USA basketball practice facility?  because that is the only logical thinking to bring this head case in.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

dude Is a talent...

but also a bonehead... can you imagine the trouble this guy would get in, in a lawless nation like Brazil 2016?

It looks like the USA is falling back into its old trap of 10 years ago, when Lebron took team USA to bronze...

Howard ain't in camp.

Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, Derrick Favors, DeAndre Jordan, Greg Monroe and Larry Sanders are.

And... talent wise he's better than them.  Attitude wise....different story
