Phil Jackson Says Knicks’ Anthony Should Read His ‘Sacred Hoops’

“It’s a book in which I address the fact that Michael Jordan’s a leading scorer, he’s got the capability of being a terrific scorer, but that he’s got to get his other teammates involved and he’s got to make it a team game,” Jackson said during an interview on Bloomberg Radio’s “Taking Stock” with Pimm Fox and Carol Massar.

Jackson called Anthony, who as a freshman led Syracuse University to the 2003 national championship, a “terrific player.”

“He’s one step away from getting there and having that opportunity,” Jackson said, referring to competing for an NBA title. “Having had it as an NCAA player, it’s something he must crave.”

Carmelo needs somebody to teach him how to be a winner. He's done it before. It's just harder now.

Sounds like a job for his older brother Kobe.

Kobe would probably tell him the same.  But I would love to see Carmelo learning from Kobe.  That's a reason I don't mind if the Lakers get him in 2014, he'd have to be a different player.  Would hope he'd become one.

One more year of having to carry the Knicks on his back and not getting to the finals I think will be enough.  "If" we have Dwight he'd likely want to come here to be with Kobe, it would probably make Kobe stay "one" more year and since he'd be 30 we wouldn't need to pay him the MAX MAX contract either.

A coach is so important...
Who is the best coach melo had? George Karl?
And that allen inversion and melo team almost killed Karl....

Imagine if melo had a great coach, and was never exposed to Allen iverson, or jr smith, or Kenyon Martin...
Melo has had a lot of negative influences in his NBA career...

I wonder how it would be if he was drafted by the pistons, and got to learn from Larry brown...

And Melo just loves Mike D'Antoni.

Then he'd just learn how to bail when the going got tough.
