Yep and it's looking like the Clippers(who were also after Nate) are looking to sign Byron Scott.

So they're out.

Leaving just Detroit or Los Angeles.

It looks like he's coming to the Lakers then.

Byron Scott going to be a clippers head coach?   I thought Byron didn't get along with CP3 in New Orleans? Unless CP3 won't be back, talk about another drama situation.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

You should change the the thread title to Alvin Gentry a potential interim coach for the Lakers.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's not a matter of if MDA is fired, it's when.

Alvin Gentry will join Doc Rivers staff with the Clippers, source tells ESPN. DAntoni gave his blessing this morning.

Good we can get Nate McMillan then. Gentry really doesnt impress me

Gentry is going to th Clippers. This thread needs to be close.  It shows you how MDA not only scare away any player to join the lakers, he also scare away coaches to join the lakers.  Have fun hiring MDA's brother in law as the next assistant.

Good! That means that the chances of getting Nate and Hollins(if he doesn't get the Sixers job) are higher.

I remember the days when the Clippers were completely irrelevant. Now they are a better team as of now and have all the allure of Los Angeles on their side now to steal everything away from the Lakers. Chris Paul running that shrill little mouth of his to get all of these assets.

Clippers offered him more money. Thats why he took the clippers job.

Do you realistically expect us to land either one of those guys?

Personally, I highly doubt it. Obviously I would love for it to happen, especially Hollins, but I'd be pretty surprised frankly if it ultimatley ends up happening.

If Hollins goes jobless

as in doesn't get hired by Boston or Philly, if our assistants positions are still open then he could likely be one we go after.

Mitch was waiting on Shaw, he got hired.  Luckily there's still other coaching candidates where if they are not hired Mitch will go after.  He has said such, though I think he was thinking mainly of Shaw, I don't think he's given up on finding assistants that are people that could head coach if they went unhired.

If Hollins is not hired by Philly or Boston I expect us to give him a go for the assistants spot.

I don't know if we'll GET him, but we'll take a run at him.

But like I said with Shaw, it depends on if he gets a head coaching offer or not.

Do you really think he would wanna' accept taking a backseat to Michael D'Antoni when he and everyone else knows he's a far superior coach than him himself?

If he has a choice between being jobless or being an assistant he'll likely become an assistant.

^ Likely perhaps, but certainly no guarantee. Sometimes guys have different interests and or will not allow their pride or ego to drop down that far after reaching new heights.

Nope it's no guarantee.

But if he doesn't get a head coaching job for the Celtics or the Sixers we have a shot.
