OKC really has an embrassment of riches with their 2 and 3 players

They thought it'd win them a championship.

When you want to win a championship you need to gamble with money sometimes.

Lakers have done it for years.  If we'd won 3 championships do you think we'd have so many talking down our front office because of Pau's contract?

Well OKC has failed two years, and now have to deal with perkins contract, Ibaka's contract and Harden's absense due to paying Ibaka first.

Majesty's perspective is something I expect from more than 1% of the posters.

Wait till next year , with or without Pau.

Kobe will probably play similar to the 2010-2011 season, which was on one knee. Minutes capped. It doesn't matter, because DH won't come into the season recovering. Dwight can carry a team far in the regular season. If Kobe gets better as the year progresses , I see us as a Top 3 team in the West.

But I came in here to ask if we could acquire JR Smith for the 3 mill exception?

^^ sure the Lakers could.. He will want more money though.the Lakers want the books pretty much clear for 2014.... That's their plan.. If he was cool with taking a one year deal, which I doubt..... I'm sure the Lakers would if he agreed to do so

I always said he'd be stupid to opt out. But he'd just be Metta being Metta.

I do wonder though if there is a chance that the front office could have told him he would be amnestied if he opts into his contract.  In that case, I would understand.

What if he retires? What happens to his contract?

He's not going to opt out. My opt out and collect nothing when you can get amnestied and collect the remainder of how much they owe you? He knows he is not coming back either way .

We don't owe him a single cent regarding the remainder of it to my understanding.

That's the intelligent way of thinking.

We are talking about a guy who changed his name to Metta World Peace.

Yeah If Metta retires I think the contract ends anyway. After his knee injury last year and him slowing down I wouldn't be surprised if he did retire.   That does have to come up.

Neither would surprise me

A) Retirement

B) Opting out

C) Opting out to re-sign vets min

D) Not Opting out

Neither would surprise me.

You know becoming Ron Artest again would be an awesome announcement   in combination with C actually.

Could be a trade too but who could we possibly get?

If it's for some draft picks or something and we've yet to re-sign Clark or get any other forwards I'll be worried.

But we'll see.   We could be sending him back to Indiana and signing Granger.  Who knows...

Those all seem too suspect for MWP.

If he retires and focuses on the mental health community I think that'd be probably one of the best things for him.

With him working on mental health and Kobe focusing on eradicating homelessness they could do a lot of help in the community.
