You can amnesty any player whos contract was created prior to the most recent CBA. They don't expire per se, but time is running out for players who WERE signed those years ago.

Metta opting out and trading Pau to get into the lottery is the absolute best case scenario for the lakers this off-season...along with re-signing Dwight

Toronto and Minnesotta to name a couple of teams off the bat...teams that have expressed interest in Pau as recently as this past trading deadline

This is a weak draft overall and all of the top prospects outside of Noel are athletic 2s and pretty good 1s, which both of the teams I've mentioned before already have in place in their regular rotations

It's not as ridiculous as you might think..some good writers with valid sources have already written about this..google it or something

You wouldn't do that in THIS draft.

2014 may be one of the deepest drafts we had in years.

RT @jaysway52: Will Meeks and Antawn be back for the Lakers? ---> was told Lakers are telling people they'll have six roster spots open.

Meeks I'm guessing will be back.

Jamison... I don't see it.

The Lakers currently on ended contracts have 9 roster spots open, they'll buy out Duhon which will leave 10 roster spots open.

IF Dwight re-signs that's 9.

This leaves 3 people from last year that could return and there'd be 6 roster spots open.

So, if Meeks was re-signed, and Metta opted in.  Then we'd have 7 spots open.

If we re-sign Clark

There's the third.

Thus leaving 6 roster spots open.

This means that Morris, Goudelock, Sacre will definitely be in camp and probably summer league, but they won't be on guaranteed contracts.

I think after signing Ebanks so early last year thus having to pass on Martell Webster and CDR they don't want to make that mistake again.

Meeks better be back that's dumb if they let him go. We need a three point shooter on this team. He also has a great work ethic and Kobe loves that. I'm 100% positive if you asked Kobe if he wants both Blake and Meeks back he would say absolutely and would mean it.

I'm just not sure if Meeks is brought back due to the fact they can get the same (or even better) production from Goudelock on a far more cheaper contract.

If we find takers for pau, Blake, duhon, Ron id consider bringing noone back but Kobe, Nash, Howard, and hill

Guys like Clark and Meeks are decent pieces that wouldn't hurt to bring back but aren't vital either.

Morris and ebanks are trash and should be dumped somewhere else

If it were football I'd cut everyone but Kobe, Dwight and hill

We could probably find a team that would take Meeks, we could package him with Duhon as well.   The question is to who and for what that would help us.

Think OKC would take Meeks/Duhon for Lamb?

I'd lover to get lamb or perry jones for any of our bench players. Especially lamb. But I doubt they'd want duhon since they have Jackson already

I guess it would depend on if they wanted to re-sign Fisher or not.   When it came to Duhon.  Statistically Duhon is the better 3 point shooter and that's all they ask Fisher to do.  But Duhon doesn't have the championship pedigree or locker room presence though.
