The Atlanta Hawks enter the offseason with Josh Smith's free agency amongst their most pressing issues.

The Hawks will likely seek sign-and-trade packages involving Smith in order to receive assets in return.

The Hawks also have cap space and are expected to pursue Dwight Howard.

Smith will be an unrestricted free agent.

I hate the new CBA agreement... A team can't do jack when they are over the cap but they must pay the luxury tax... He'll if they want to pay, let them pay, the NBA is getting paid from it anyway... Sheesh

I hope he lands in Houston.  I really like the pieces they have their and with Harden, Parsons, Josh Smith, and Patrick Beverly.  They're quite nice.

[expletive] the new CBA. LA can't sign and trade anymore.

It's the small market team owners like Dan Gilbert that whined about the perks that a big market has during the CBA negotiations. In reality, there were many management mistakes that they made that caused mediocrity, not the salary cap. Look at New York as a great example. They are a big market team, but only now are they getting back into contention. Take into account all the [expletive] moves that Gilbert has allowed over the years, and you wonder why a pissy kid is allowed to be the owner of an NBA team.

Other examples: Hedo Turkoglu contract, Jameer Nelson's new contract, Rashard Lewis, etc.

I expect the Celtics to make a strong run at him actually.  Under the radar.
