brewer is pretty much a one dimensional player..and his stats have dipped significantly. i'd rather have garcia and meeks over brewer.

One dimensional offensively but not defensively.

The best way to use him is as a cutter and as a hustle guy, but he'll always give 110% on defense.

he's shown throughout his career when used as a slasher and cutter he has a high efficiency rating.  But the Knicks didn't know what to do with him and neither do the Thunder.

Since he's a hustle guy that's very good defensively and available for the vets min I'd go for him.   Would take pressure off Kobe defensively when it comes to assignments.   Any offense he gives us is a bonus but he's a wing defender we definitely need.   In my opinion anyway.

I thin Garcia is going to look for a paycheck...
Dude just lost 6 million hypothetical dollars...

I like Garcia more then a lot of the free agents the lakers have signed in recent years
I hope this isn't Meeks fever like last season..

You mean when people were saying that we wouldn't need Barbosa cause we could get Meeks and would snuff at people that said there's no point in having Meeks if we have Goudelock?

Yet look at the Goudelock thread about a week ago.  Idk what the number was but I think it was 40 to 2 in favor of keeping Goudelock over Meeks.

Wouldn't want to pass up Brewer. But if we sign Brewer and Garcia(for vets minimum) I don't mind and then go after Tony Allen for mMLE if we can't get Webster.

Of course it's ALL a moot point if Dwight doesn't re-sign.  Cause then it won't matter who we get.

Tony allen would be worth anything he demands...
Brewer would be a great signing for vet min...
they would solve so many problems it's not even funny...

Totally forgot about barbosa, he would have helped.. A lot...
It's been a lot of bad signings and non-signings over the years...
Gerald green... We had him, let him go because we are cheap...
Nate robinson could have been signed off the street...
And I have always been in the goudelock camp... Dude can shoot it... And hated Meeks since before he even signed his contract..

Yes, hence why I say it will be a successful off-season if (with re-signing Dwight)

We re-sign Clark

Sign Ronnie Brewer for the Vets Minimum
Sign Tony Allen for the mMLE (if we can't get Webster)
Sign Garcia for the Vets minimum

That's a successful off-season for the Lakers this time around and a very realistic one.

I would not make Clark a priority...
I think he wants to get paid... His agent is going to point to where clark was out playing pau... I think someone like phi or the jazz will overpay him

Webster is interesting ... I got nothing against him nothing for him...

Tony Allen should be priority number 1 priority

Clark has said himself that he doesn't care about the money and just wants to be a Laker even if he has to take a paycut or have a diminished role.  I don't think the Ariza scenario will happen with him luckily.  Which is a good thing.

Tony Allen would be a very good wing defender to have.

Tony Allen and Brewer (cause I think Clark we'll have as much as he wants to be here) will really take a lot of defensive pressure off Kobe and(if he is still here) Metta as well which will help us a lot.

Also does add some youth to our bench with a veteran that can defend(Allen).

So our bench would add Tony Allen, Earl Clark and Ronnie Brewer to it.  That's not bad when you consider them pairing with Jordan Hill and Dwight being out there.

Actually a 2,3,4,5 combination of

Allen
Brewer
Hill/Clark
Howard

is a scary thought defensively but not offensively.

But at the same time adding perimeter wing defenders to our bench should be a top priority over the offense, and we pretty much had the offensive veteran that can't play defense(Jamison) this year, we should give a chance to the defensive veteran that can give you "some" offense this year(Allen)

to start the season.

The person we passed on last year that we need to try to add if he becomes available is:

L. Barbosa...

I think this was the difference in this team being a 4th seed and what we eventually became which is the 7th seed.

Oh Majesty what are you on? Tony Allen is going to take the mini mid-level? You aren't going to get a 1st team all defense player for that.  And it sounds like you are implying Webster is better than him.

he's making about 3 million right now currently(3.3), and being one year older do you think Memphis is gonna pay him more than he's making right now?  He's 31, he ain't a spring chicken to demand 6-8 million for 3 years.  Not gonna happen from Memphis most likely.

I guess you didn't know that though :)

Tony Allen is VERY achievable for the mMLE, especially should Dwight re-sign it could be an incentive.  But let's not act like he's out of reach for 3 million when that's basically what he's making now.

if Memphis overpays him 6-8 million for 3 years at 31 then all the more power to them lol, but I doubt they drop Rudy Gay if they intended on spending money like that.

But Garcia for vet's min,I'm not so sure about that assumption. But I agree with you, Allen or Webster,Brewer and Garcia would really be a successful off-season. That would give us really good 10 man-rotation.

Howard/Hill
Gasol/Clark/Hill
Brewer/Garcia/Clark (if Ron retires)
Kobe/Allen/Meeks
Nash/Blake

Man,if only Ron doesn't pick up his player option. That would light some more fire under Mitch's and Jim's ass to find some good assets.

I read somewhere that he was looking for more than 3 /yr.

Like Korver, this makes sense since this is perhaps their last big pay-day.

I doubt he gets it, but like I said if a team is willing to overpay him like that more power to them but they may regret it after the first season when he's 33.  Korver is known for his scoring whereas Allen is known for his perimeter defense, being 31 you wonder how long that lasts.  So I don't think a team will want to give him more money on a 2-3 year contract.

plus, Allen wasnt as highly touted when he signed his last contract. a top 2 defender of SGs will make more than 3 mil.

Kobe and Randle led Lakers lead the team to a 32-50 record. the Lakers select Myles Turner with the 5th pick.

Garcia would be a perfect fit for this team, heck even as a starter

Heres how he did in the playoffs: 10.7 points, 3.3 rebs, 1.5 asssists in 27 mins. 44% FG, 46% from 3s in 27 minutes.  He's only 31 and has a ton of gas left in him as his Kings haven't been to the playoffs. He can shoot 3s and play adequate defense. Hes pretty much in the Shane Battier mold, only thing is he cant guard PF's like Battier can sometimes
