Sadly, I don't see this happening. Very unlikely, but would be nice! :)

If CP3 signs for MLE.

Can the Lakers sign him an extension right after?

Yeah the NBA would probably get the FBI to investigate the Lakers if Paul signed for the MMLE lol.

No but we could offer him the max.  At that point it would just be about if he wants to stay.

But having Dwight here would be enough to convince him to stay and id say it also would depend on if Kobe would come back for one more year in 2014.

But if Paul actuallyt signed in 2013 for the mMLE for a chance at a championship and the promise of a max in 2014 he likely wouldn't leave that off-season nor want to leave the franchise.   Unless it was another disaster year or something.

I've always liked Steve Blake.

I can't believe this is still being discussed. It wont happen. Neither CP3 or D12 are going to walk away from millions of dollars and i doubt if the Lakers would ever want to use the amnesty on Kobe, unless they knew for sure he wasn't going to be healthy for the whole season.

The only way CP3 and Howard will be on the same team is if Dwight forces his way to the Clippers.

Or both of them go to Atlanta.

To be honest this thread is dumb and should be closed. The absurdity of the situation is so unrealistic it can be held in the same breath as IF Malone wasn't injured in 2004 we woulda won a championship. Its a silly proposition.

Well if you're assuming that Chris Paul really badly wants to become a Laker, I've got a much more realistic scenario for you.

Let's say he announces this publicly that he'll target the 2014 cap space that the Lakers have, he can sign for a year with the Clippers (for his market value, none of that MLE bs.)

After the mandatory 6 month period, Clippers knowing they'll lose him for nothing, can discuss a possible 3 way trade that sends Gasol to Celtics, Rondo & Bradley to Clippers and Chris Paul to Lakers.

Celtics do this if KG retires. Gasol's contract will be a huge asset in rebuilding that team.

Chris Paul wants to win, but he'd be the first player in Nba history to take a 12+ plus million pay cut to do so.

Even if it is one year, noone has ever taken that risk, especially someone with his history

Magic Johnson said to not count out the Lakers if they can cut cap space.

Speaking of NBA countdown, it's hilarious how Simmons, Wilbon, and Rose all try to bad mouth the Lakers when talking about Dwight, saying if it's for basketball reasons, he should go to Houston, but if it's strictly money, he should stay with the Lakers.  They talk as if the Lakers are in the same position as the Bobcats.

That was the most stupidest discussion I heard. Magic or someone else said Jimmy needs to be bold, and they all say the Lakers should clear some cap. Easier said than done........
