The Cavaliers were granted permission from the Los Angeles Lakers to interview Phil Handy for Mike Brown's coaching staff, the Lakers confirmed on Thursday. Handy was Brown's player development coach with the Lakers.

Handy is known as a tireless worker who was introduced to Brown through an old connection. According to a recent story on the Lakers' website, St. Mary's College coach Randy Bennett introduced the two. Bennett was an assistant coach at University of San Diego when both Brown and Cavs general manager Chris Grant were students there.

The Cavs presumably have two spots to fill on their coaching staff. They released Paul Pressey and Joe Prunty from former coach Mike Brown's staff, but have retained Jamahl Mosley and Nate Tibbetts.

Handy played professionally for 13 seasons, including a brief stint in the NBA and eight years in Europe.

This makes sense.  Mike D'antoni doesn't want to develop guys he is only going to run into the ground.

And some people will find a reason to blame D'antoni for EVERYTHING.

We get it.  You don't like D'antoni.

But it's getting ridiculous.
