Stephen A. Smith of ESPN reports that the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics could execute a trade of Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

"Absurd," said one source from the Celtics to Greg Dickerson of Comcast in response to the story.

Smith also reports that Doc Rivers could go with Pierce and Garnett to the Clippers.

"It is already being talked about in NBA circles," said Smith.

Smith wouldn't answer definitively if it is actually being discussed between the two teams.

If that would happen, it shows that Donald Sterling is doing his thing again. Getting rid of your most marketable player in Blake griffen for a bunch of old geezers?

I hope clippers do it so they can suck forever

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

I wouldn't be shocked to see something stupid like this happen.

It is the Clippers we're talking about.

It won't help the Clippers.

If they deal Griffin, and personally I don't think its a terrible idea, they can do a lot better.

That's the thing, he totally is the highlight guy. But if you wanna win, you won't as long as he is the main cog in your engine.

All flash.

Yeah but they don't advance to the second round if Blake remains the second go to guy behind Chris Paul.

Ultimately that should weigh on Chris Paul's decision or not to stay, as harsh as it sounds, if Griffin is gonna be their franchise going forward, then Chris Paul needs to get out of dodge, because Griffin as first or second option is about as far into the playoffs as you'll go, first or second round.

If the Clippers wound up in that kind of balance where it was Paul or Griffin and they chose Griffin, well, I wouldn't be surprised.

I still contend that Griffin is the most overrated player in the NBA and if the Clippers expect to win he is not the guy to get them there.

They should've dangled him in front of Orlando for Howard when that whole craziness was going on.

Yeah they could have.  But apparently they were trying to get Dwight but the package was a DeAndre Jordan one.  Amazingly even when we had Dwight, at the trade deadline, the Clippers tried to dangle DeAndre Jordan and a few other pieces for him...

of course Mitch said no though.
