Mark Heisler: Lakers Plan A = Keeping Pau and Bring Everyone Last Season Back

@MarkHeisler

Source w/knowledge of #Laker discussions says keeping Pau, bringing this team back isn't merely an option, it's now Plan A.

I like the idea of keeping Pau. But I'm not sure if I like that bringing back the same team idea.

I don't mind it if they add athletic players to the mix.

I don't see them bringing back the whole team though.

Total bull[expletive]. Pau knew during his exit interview that he was gonna be shopped like crazy. In about a month you will hear of many rumors saying the complete opposite.

It makes sense if they're going all in on 2014. What this team needs is role players though.

Mitch's idea is to keep the core, surround them with better more athletic and more consistent players.

See how they are gelling by trade deadline, make secondary moves if necessary.

Mitch is doing the smart thing.

Bring in some athleticism and then keep Pau.

YES. We need to keep the roster as is, make no adjustments and most importantly keep Dantoni.

We keep everything the same but expect different results.

What can go wrong with that logic?

Looks like plan a is pretty bad...

I dont mind if we keep pau, would rather get rid of him, but we need other players to come in this team cant win. We are too old and slow to do anything especially if by whole team they include MDA because if he comes back we arent gonna do anything his scheme is not for this team or any team that wants to win a chip.

Wasn't this obvious?

Keep Pau and add athleticism and length at 3/2

Plan B - Trade Pau for Length and Athleticism

Mitch Super Secret Plan - Pau for K.Love and Filler/Sign CP3 (jk)

Its funny how people think keeping Gasol means we're not making any changes.

Change the BENCH!!!!!

If you guys don't get it by now this team's problem was being TOP HEAVY.

That means once our starting lineup was gone we didn't have much else to offer.

If Mitch is focusing on strengthening the bench as much as possible to be a viable option to come in after our starting lineup sits I'm all for it.

Mitch's idea is putting better players on our team off the bench, and seeing how we all gel and if we're struggling going into all-star break he'll make moves.  That simple.

Also, why would Mitch say they are getting rid of Gasol as option A when he doesn't even know if Dwight is re-signing yet?  geez :morrison:

@MarkHeisler 51s

What #Lakers hope for is someone who's good enough to command $5-6M willing to take $3.1M from them.

You never know what the FO is thinking. They'll always say they won't do much. Sometimes it's true like during this season, and sometimes it's not like during last off-season.

The 2014 cap space plan is nice, but the Lakers should still try to improve while keeping that cap space open. You have players that really need a change of scenery, like Pau.

I'm already over this franchise for the time being.  I'm going to sit back, enjoy the playoffs, the draft, and the offseason...and most importantly, the sport of basketball as a whole.
