Same can be said for LeBron in recent years with a bonafide shot-creator and star on the perimeter near him in Wade. When has Kobe had a Westbrook or Wade by his side on the perimeter? Never. Nothing close.

That's why Mitch was such a genius for getting Chris Paul.
That's why the league hated when he did it.
That's why CP3 posted 'wow' when Stern did what he did.

Stern robbed not only Kobe but he robbed CP3 too.

HIndsight is amazing, OKC probably kicking themselves over keeping Ibaka opposed to Harden. I mean come on 7 footers should not be taking long range or even 3 pointers continously, thats a red flag.

They could lose Kevin Martin too as a free agent.   Kevin Martin is gonna generate interest around the league as a sixth man.

Like I said, it's amazing how ONE injury can turn a team with so much depth into a second round exit team.

Magnifies what we did despite all of our injuries this year as well as the mastery of Kobe Bryant whom had to deal with the kind of pressure all season that Durant had to deal with for 5 games.

Kevin Martin is good, but I am sure one team will overpay thus making him too expensive for the Thunder. I still think with Westbrook this series was a toss up, Westbrooks drives would not have been as easy and Conley might be smaller but could still keep in front of him. They just are hampered by Ibaka and Perkins too much.

Eh, Kobe and Durant's situations are very different probbaly cause on how both their teams were built when they made it to the Finals respectively. Gasol, Odom and Artest (not Metta) were very active players, plus coaching was amazing.

Yeah I would have liked the Grizzlies chances even with Westbrook.

Oh well yea, if anything Durant can say his teammates were just not as good as the opposing team but tried. Kobe on the other hand would think he was surrounded by incompetant players that some probably didn't belong in the same locker room as him.

Damn. Kendrick Perkins still owed 19 million for the next two years? That's just tragic!

It's almost hilarious to see Laker fans talking major [expletive] on Twitter. Can't stand reading it...makes me look bad, really.

Even worse, you have some of the most ignorant comments coming from our fanbase:

"Durant isn't a superstar, not even the best player on his own team."
"Go back to your farms and cattle, OKC fans!"
"A top two seed can't even get into the WCF!"

Durant IS a superstar, and the best on his team. It's also obvious that none of those people have been to Oklahoma City...farms and cattle? A top two can't get into the WCF? Yeah, we were a part of that just two years ago, when BOTH of them (us and the Spurs) watched the #3 Mavs and #4 Thunder (ah) from home...after we were swept by Dallas.

God forbid Durant shoots poorly in a close-out game.

Michael Jordan, 1996 vs. Sonics, NBA Finals
GM6: 5-19 FG (26.3%), 11-12 FT, 22 PTS, 9 REB, 7 AST, 5 TO

And everyone here has watched Kobe, so you remember his 6-24 against Boston in 2010, and his 7-22 against them in 2008.  His 7-21 against Detroit in 2004?

Just one of those moments where you want to go hide your Laker gear, especially after you just got your ass swept in the first round.

^^ Totally agree he's taking unnecessary heat I mean dude is the only reliable scorer on that team not Jackson, not perkins, not Ibaka, not Sefolosha, a little of Martin but he's not reliable he can go cold any second. He can't beat a playoff team being the only player that can score, it's easy to focus just on him since it's like his first time ever experiencing something like that. Durant is a Superstar indeed

I remember how pissed off we all were when people did that with Kobe, especially in the "dark days" and in 2008, when he had Gasol and Odom.

Ironically, it seemed to be a lot of fans of teams who weren't the Boston Celtics...more like the Suns, Kings, and others who were losing before their respective conference finals...kind of like we did this year (and the last three seasons).

Funny how that works.

Let the Thunder pay Westbrook the max contract and let Durant walk.

We'll GLADLY take him

Its like ESPN mentioning when Lebron will be a free agent and possibly head to LA lol. As a franchise we have hardly been a lottery team but always amused by the constant this or that superstar coming to the Lakers. Wonder how rebuilding really feels like, last time we got Bynum...

Well the Lakers never really do their damage in the draft unless they plan years before it.

It's mostly because they plan and plan and plan around it.

for instance, them trying to keep Dwight Howard is what would ensure already established free agents to head their way for the 2014 draft.

The Lakers always have a plan.   They wanted to have Dwight so they can run at the 2014 free agent pool.  Without Dwight any chance of getting free agents like Wall, George, Carmelo etc will be futile because we'd have nothing to attract them.

Having a franchise player already locked in place is key for when we start trading for draft picks.

For instance, we had Kareem and THEN we got the picks that became Magic and James Worthy.

For this situation, we'll have Dwight, and then we'll try to build in the 2014 free agency to get a one two punch.  After that we'll be searching for and trading for draft picks while also being a contending team most likely.

^ He's not bad although he is inferior and the soft one overall sadly. Haven't seen Pau play as tough, pissed, & passionate since he went up against KG last time we met in the Finals and he got his revenge and cried afterwards.

The Lakers wouldn't have won two rings without Pau, so no, he's not the "bad Gasol".

Please.

We have the bad Gasol...

Marc has to win a championship first, two actually.

When we traded them for each other Pau was the better one, but of course the younger brother with the fresher legs is eventually going to surpass him.

I tell you one thing though in the Olympic games there was no question who the better one was.

Pau isn't at that level anymore for sure, but we can't act like he was "always" this underperforming.
