If we traded Gasol for a huge player exception and got rid of metta we would have kobe, dwight and Nash at 59 million for salary cap alone. If the threshold is 70 million we would be able to nab Chris Paul. Now then again none of this is likely because who in their right mind absorbs all 19 millions without giving contracts up?

A theoretical possible way would be. But impossible

Trade/Amnesty/Get Rid Of/Boot everyone but Kobe and D12

68-30=28

Convince Cp3 and D12 to sign 1 year 14 mill contracts. Sign cheap serviceable players with vet min or MMLE. LOL which makes no difference really.

Convince KB to take less in 2014. receive MLE.
Get better

Yeah so. No chance in getting Cp3 since he won't sign MMLE

Like has been said.

The only way CP3 joins that doesn't require us absolutely gutting our team would be if he took 3 million for one year and trusted our guarantee of a Max contract in 2014.

Any other amnesty plans to try to net him 10 million would gut our team in the process to the point that signing him at all would be pointless.

Btw, for everyone hammering Dwight for what he says concerning his future:

RT @ramonashelburne: CP3 on his future: "I got a lot of time to think about that. We'll see what happens."

This is the exact thing that they are supposed to say. I laughed when people criticized his desire to stay. If one of them said "I want to return", they would be looking at tougher negotiations.

Exactly.

People think too much as fans instead of actually looking at a situation from the business side of things. It's all part of free agency.

yeah but do you see Magic Johnson bashing Chris Paul for getting ejected?  Is Stephen A Smith gonna make an interview calling him a 'straight up punk' 15 minutes from now?

Im guessing no =p

Why?

If I were Paul I'd choose number 2... Why?

2 would be the total amount of times he was traded to the Lakers haha
