spot up / catch & shoot players (1SG & 1 SF)  that can also create off the dribble for both themselves & others

2 bigs (1PF & 1 C) that can hit the mid range jumper off PnR

If these type of players that are mid 20s cant be had for the LAkers = then there is absolutely no reason to bring Coach D back. He cant do anything with current roster even when they are healthy.

If Mike D Antoni is still our coach, the only thing that is rebuilding under him is weapons of mass destruction

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

What worries me the most about D'Antoni is he loves to go small with his teams, that's how it was in Phoenix and in New York, then attempted to do that once he arrived. It wasn't until Kobe went out that he was forced to really utilize our strength.

Regardless of the coach next year, we need to get more athletic on the perimeter and really just more athletic in general.

I really liked our team back in 2008-2009 when we had role players like Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, Shannon Brown, and Jordan Farmar. Those guys were athletic players that allowed us to mix and match rosters.

As of today, our most athletic role players are Earl Clark and Darius Morris.  That's not going to get it done.

I'm talking more along the lines of perimeter players, not post players.

That's a lot of new players to get via free agency with limited money.  At the very least we can get two players by splitting the mini mle, then getting some veterans.  Players like Brewer and Allen do not fall under that.

The FO will try and the Lakers will sure get better by changing the roster. But, there is no competing under D'Antoni.

I honestly believe this guy wouldn't win with Miami's roster. That team wins by playing great defense even with all of their talent on offense.

I don't want the the team to get players to "fit" his "system". His system is small ball and shooting threes while playing absolutely no defense and it's never won, ANYWHERE, in the NBA. It's a garbage system.

I want to see MDA change HIMSELF to fit OUR strengths. Not the other way around. A coach is supposed to be flexible and coach the team to it's strengths. Not whine about it till he gets the players to run his run and chuck offense.

Agree with the OP.  I don't care who it was, this season would have been a bust for any coach including Phil.  You can make adjustments to a healthy roster...there's nothing you can do when 40% of your starting lineup is injured.

I think the starting 5 played together for about 22 games...a little over 1/4 of the regular season games.

I don't think it's possible to adequately gauge anything based on the plethora of "what if" scenarios that are clearly 20/20 hindsight combined with abundance of injuries to KEY players.

This was OBVIOUSLY a year of WORST case scenarios...and that's not MDA's fault.  Bring back a healthy team and he still doesn't get it done?  Good riddance.

I could argue some of the injuries were due to minutes mismanagement, which definitely pins more of the blame on MDA than you're suggesting.

He makes more than the mini MLE now though, which is worrisome. I would love to have him on the team, though, probably the best perimeter defender in the league if not top 3 at least.

plus with his hip injury he may not be the same again; especially since he is one of those players thats always picking himself off the ground several times in a gm since he so wild.

Plus, if Memphis goes deep in their run, I expect them bringing him back, one of their best defenders

Mike Trudell
@LakersReporter
D'Antoni said LAL could use some
rangy perimeter guys, long and
athletic guys that help with 50-50
balls and so on. Kupchak's on the
case.

At least he sees it also.
Impossible is nothing.

Dantoni sucks. I wont watch a single game next season until that mutha [expletive] is fired.

Guess you won't be watching any games then.

I see you are on the Mike D Antoni excuses pitty bus huh?  Too many injuries. No training camp.  Starters have not played together for more than 22 games.  Not sure if you are the driver of the bus or is it basketballiQ. One of yo uguys must be the passenger.  So what you are saying is bring everybody back and hope they will be healthy and for sure we will win right?  Nice.
